750 WHP LS1 Turbo LS1 build
I am beginning the parts gathering for the Single turbo LS1 build that will be put into a '74 Datsun 260Z with an independant 8.8 rear. I am shooting to build an engine capable of 750WHP. My plan is to do Rods, pistons, cam pushrods, oil pump, valve springs, head studs, and maybe main studs(although I'm not sure this is worth it) I do have a set of 317 heads, but with pistons, maybe the 99 LS1 heads will do?
Where do I start with these part selections, and what have you been happy with? Is this HP goal realistic?

I have heard alot of folks go with the AFR 225 heads. Those can put down some impressive #'s at high RPM. Wih aloy of boost and low compression and a cam, you can totally do it. I'd shoot for a cam in the 240's though. It wont be a street car though...

if he asked whether a maggie or procharger was better, thats one thing. No need for the search reflex comment here though. DOnt respond or read the thread if it is worthless. People will stop when they go unanswered.

Do you think it would be less expensive to buy a short-long block built for boost, than build my own? I have been toying with the idea of just buying an engine already built, but it goes against my way of doing things. i have always built the engines I have in the past myself. But the one thing I havent accomplished is 750whp, as the most I have is 560, and that is a stock 5.0 t66 Ford.
I have 6 Ls1's ( 2 complete 4l60E, 2 complete T56, 2 long blocks) and was going to take one of the running longblocks and build it myself. This is all assuming that I can save some $ in the process. I was thinking of doing a stock bore, freshened bearing, shortblock with rods, pistons, cam, oil pump, and either using the 317 heads, or purchasing some aftermarket heads (using head studs) GM MLS head gaskets. What do you guys think, am i tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime? Should I just bite the bullet and go with all new stuff? I havent really priced it out either way, since there are so many ways to go, but i think it may be quite a bit less expensive going the rebuild way.
Let me know what you think, and I appreciate your input greatly.
