Why do soo manypeopledislike the Granatelli maf?
I have just a few mods... headers, y-pipe, cat-back, 4.11, 80mm t/b, ls6 intake and Granatelli maf with stock pcm and my car seems to run fine. I have a stock unported screened maf and It seem to run fine with it as well. I don't have any track times or dyno numbers for comparision.
Does it mostly come into play once you start tweeking the pcm and going with bigger mods suchas cam?
I was just wondering why so much negative talk about it and it seems that they are always forsale.
I should swap mine back and forth to see if I can really tell a difference.

i have a few bolt-ons, ftra, k&n, whisper lid, plus the maf - didn't notice too much of a difference in power but my gas miliage went up a few mpg. not really sure if 1-2mpg is enough to write home about these days or not tho...

I used 1 and it leaned my car out way too much. It rattled bad at high rpms. My car was untuned. I took it off because everyone told me that the stock MAF was ok til about 450 hp. I have a long way to go to reach that.

I actually just took mine off the main reason was It just didnt fit well with my granatelli lid go figure. Also I am having a hard time getting my tune down so I will see if going back to the stocker works.

I believe those aftermarket MAF's trick the PCM for more power. And those lil tricks they use can throw off an actual tuner. Thats why people dislike aftermarket MAF's. They sound great when you buy em but once you really start moddin and need a tune tuners prefer to work with the stockers.

I had the SLP 85mm Maf and lost 2/10 in 1/4 mile, bolted stock back on w/ ends, sent back to SLP to retune but still junk. I have seen stock descreened MAF w/ H/C run deep into the 11's and spray low 10's.

there is alot of negative hype, i had talked to a couple local guys about tuning and they specifically asked if it was the stock MAF. they said they didn't want to deal with an aftermarket one. if your going to get a real tune i think there worthless becuz the tuner would just have to tune it out or tune around it... unless your making over 450rwhp or so the 75 maf won't be holding you back.
now for a bolt on situation, my experience with that was i used a programmer and the GMAF, the gmaf that was calibrated for an aftermarket intake (or so it said) and the car picked up on the low end. it was a SOTP feel and it wasnt just me, other people in the car felt the difference to. i have never had the car at the track so i can't back it up as far at that goes...
