What would you do? This is a stock motor with a stock rocker setup.
I saw several different posts on this, and none had the same answer. I heard some use permatex high temp thread sealant with teflon, but thats heads to keep oil out (at least thats what i understand).

I have always cleaned rocker bolts/bolt hole and replaced torqued to spec. This has worked for me without issue on dozens of ls1's and 3.1/3.4L GM v6's wich use a very simular rocker set up.

Sorry for the High Jack but Speaking of the rocker bolts, what do you guys torque to? I had a slight ticking before and I changed my pushrods the other day and retorqued to 22 ft-lbs like the dealership service manuals say and now I'm getting more ticking in a couple cylinders. Think it may be my lifters???

I just installed a set of stock rockers with the Harland Sharp bearing conversion and per Randy's (@ H.S.) recommendations, I used red loc-tite and torqued them down to GM spec of 22 ft lbs.

Just use a little blue loc-tite on them; thats what I do. GM doesnt even require loctite in teh first place, and I see no reason to use the red stuff on stock rockers. I have put some on with nothing, some with just thread sealer, and some with blue loctite. Never had any bolts come loose on any of them.
If you have stock heads you can use loctite on all rocker bolts. The thread sealer is needed on ported heads because porting them takes away the blind intake holes.

this will screw up my poll, but anyway... i was researching loctite last night and found that there is more than just red and blue. there are different types of red. there is a high strength regular temp, high strength high temp, and medium strength high temp. seems to me that medium strength high temp would be the best. i believe this is also known as loctite 246
