Default Oil on Spark Plug threads...valve seal?

changed out my plugs and 7 out of 8 had oil on the threads. did some searching and im hoping its just my valve seals. started the car up after swapping the plugs and oil pressure/idle was good, then there was some smoking from underneath the passenger side plugs...couldnt see any visable leaks etc...any other ideas out there??

also how hard is it to change the seals, and are there any good write ups on how to do it. thanx

To change the seals its not insanely hard but you do need to take out all the rockers and valvesprings to get to them. Since i have done it before it would take me less than a day to complete. Other people might not know what to do, and with the crane cams dual valvespring you do 2 at a time and i goes by real fast. I noticed your H/C maybe its oil getting sucked in through the PCV and getting put back into the intake manifold. You should try getting a catch can and see how much oil it picks up. Also seeing smoke after changing plugs is probably nothing, you probably had grease on your hands and rubbed them against the headers or something that gets hot. Check out LS1HowTo.com and in the f-body section you'll see cam and vlavespring swap, go down the whole write up till you find the area about the valve seals. Thats what i followed, its written very well.

Also, with most heads the intake is ported so that the intake hole for the rocker arm bolt can now poke through; you typically need to use teflon paste on the intake rocker arm bolt to stop oil from getting up and in.
