I was wondering if i do a cam swap i and get a set of ported heads for around $350 and then labor is it worth it.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST FOR LABOR INSTALL HEADS???
HOW MUCH POWER WILL I GAIN FROM PORTED FACTORY HEADS???
And i will install the ls6 intake and long tubes at the same time and then get a good tune.

Post the flow sheets. If you have none, then no, it isn't worth it.

The flow sheets' purpose is to figure out if your P/P guy screwed up about the only thing you can screw up when home P/P heads--The difference between cylinders. Assuming all 8 are roughly equal, then they really can't be worse than stock, as odd as that sounds.

I'd spring for AFR 225s myself, but what can I say, it's the reason I'm single

Why not?

My 3.4's heads flow more than a LSX set ever will, and the LSX has over 20% more displacement per cylinder. Flow is good, not bad. So what if you lose some velocity? You aren't going H/C/I for the TPI torque curve, so rev it up.

Furthermore, he won't lose low end with hugea$$ flow numbers, he just won't proportionately gain it.

i dont know the flow charts but i am jusy talking down the road. I believe the flow is close to 300 at 28 or something like that and the cumbustion chamber is just under 60cc i dont know all the terminology i am trying to learn more but this is pretty close,

flow isn't everything. Anyone can hog a runner out to make flow numbers. What you want is good flow numbers with a small CC runner. Then you get good flow AND high velocity. You'll get more air in. AFR 205's, TFS 215's, and PRC Terminators 202's are superior heads. what you want to make power is good mid-lift numbers. flow at .600 is almost pointless.. how long will your valve stay open at .600? will your cam even have .600 lift? look for the highest numbers at .300, .400, and .500. You will get more cylinder fill and that's where you'll make more power.

without a flow sheet, it's impossible to even speculate a HP gain.. and labor cost can vary. don't forget you'll also need new gaskets for the intake and the heads, as well as new head bolts.

I would save the $350 and use it to help pay for a set of heads from the sponsors that you know will perform.

Agreed. But if the heads were ported by a guy who knew enough to flowbench them, then use that flowbench data to make them better, I'd say we can guess that he at least knows somewhat what he's doing. At any rate I'd follow JScamaro's advice. There's a reason not many people P/P SBC heads anymore, it just isn't worth it when you can buy CNC ported heads that will always outperform them.

I would say if there ported by a reputable company, and your on a budget and its those or stock heads, then yes... but if you can afford a bit more, pick up a decent set of pp 5.3's or pp ls6's from one of the sponsors, whichever would fit yoru goals best
