The stock tire size for my 98 camaro is 215/60/R16 and the optional tires from the factory are 235/55/R16 which is what my car has. I need to replace the tires before winter hits since there is practically no tread left on these things. There are a lot fewer options out there for tires in this size though and they cost more, so I was thinking I might go back to the 215/60/R16 (tons of that size out there) but then the tires won't be quite as wide. Will they still fit the rims OK though, or are they different? They are stock GM alloy rims (you can see them in my avatar).

I feel kinda like an idiot asking this but I want to make sure.

Also, what all season tires do you guys recommend? I need a few options because I don't know what the local tire place has in stock, but I want to get them there because then I get free balancing and rotation. I'm trying to keep the total tire cost around the 350 mark if I can (I need all 4 tires).

well im gettin some tires this week on my stock rims the rears im gettin bf goodrich g-force sports there lik $110 each which is pretty good, and i dont think gm ever put that small of tires on the camaro unless i think it was a v6 but anyways my car has 245/50/16 factory i might just go with 255/50/16 if i can get them but yea you can fit a much larger size

Well I have a V6 (don't kill me lol). I thought they'd use the same size tire on both V6 and V8 though, why would they change the size?

Nitto make a great little tire called the 450 series. It was one of the best investment I ever bought. They have a real good road contact if you get caught out in the rain. They don't hydoplane when you hit a big puddle. They track thru it. When I got my Z28 it had Eagles on it and everytime you hit second gear the rear end would try to pass you while you were driving. The 450s stopped that problem also. A set of 450s would make a world of difference on your 6 cylinder car. It ought to stick you to the road like glue.

The 215/60s were ONLY installed on the steel 16x7.5" wheels with hubcaps on the base V-6 cars. If you have alloys, they are 16x8, and you can use 235/55-16, 245/50-16, or 255/50 16. The 215/60-16s are actually too narrow for the 16x8 alloys (although some do stretch winter/snows that size over them- WRONGLY!!).

the Falkens have way better traction then the eagles i took off and are alot cheaper.
