Default How to replace oil pressure sending unit

Well I'm pretty sure that seafoam got the best of the unit because after I did my seafoam and changed my oil my oil pressure went to 0. It's been sitting at 0 for about 6k miles now. So I'd really like to get that gauge working again (pretty important dont ya think) and was gonna put a new oil pressure sending unit in. Do I just unscrew the old one and swap a new one in is that all?

That's all. It's on the back of your intake (in the block actually). Have fun getting to it lol

<3 1993 FBodies! It's next to the oil filter.

Yes I had to borrow the socket needed from a mechanic buddy of mine to replace mine...it does take a special socket.

If you bought the new sending unit that should give you an idea of what the socket end should look like.

Thinking its the same as the one on my '96 camaro.

There is a special socket made for that unit and all other oil pressure senders on the trucks. But GM has a special stubby wrench that works best...

Did a quick search on google and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Oil-Pressure-S.../dp/B000I14QN8

Cheaper than I thought actually.

Good luck!

Man this was the easiest thing ever... I was dreading it since everyone told me it was a bitch but I just borrowed the socket from a friend and put an extension on and a second extension that lets you pivot and it took me maybe 5 minutes. The old one was broken badly. I reached back there and the plastic part of the unit was cracked all around the bottom. I barely touched it and it fell off somewhere back there (it'll fall out while I'm driving idc). Well I now have oil pressure
