I have been trying to figure out what this funny sound is and where it is coming from my car. It sounds like 2 loose washers vibrating against eachother. It only occurs between 2600 and 3400 rpms. I noticed it when I was revving my engine awhile ago, it was in neautral but also happens under driving conditions. My buddy got down on his hands and knees to listen , he thinks it sounds like it is coming from exhaust. I doesn't make sense though because I would think you could hear it indefinately not just in that rpm range. Car is running fine just driving me nuts. Some insight would be great. Thanks guys

Mine does the same thing with my hooker catback. I can't locate the noise either.

check the caps on the 02 sensors

Just like he said, its the rear 02 sensors. Mine have been doing the same thing over the last 6 months. Got rid of the noise when I installed my Mufflex off road pipes and 02 simms. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions what you could do to silence yours though.

The reason it does it at certain RPMs is that the exhaust resonance changes with RPM. I its the 02 sensor caps, put a dab of high temp sealer on one side just enough to hold them still.

I assume the reason that BULLIT doesn't hear this is he doesn't have enough power to shake the exhaust?

Yup.. or even a loose O2 sensor.

If not that, if you are running headers, the stock plug wire insulators often touch the primaries and rattle.
