Default rear end question

yesterday i was at a flat fix place getting a nail removed from my tire. well anyway while the car was completely off the ground , i tried to move the rear wheels with the car in nuetral. i found that i had to put alot of force to get the wheels to move . i thought it would be like the big wheel in the price is right that u just touch the tires and they would start spinning . but instead i had to use both hands to get the wheel to spin and they didnt spin much either . is this normal ? the car runs fine . i changed the gears from 2.73 to 3.42 back in march . any responses would be appreciated thanks
