Default Rear noise normal?

I just got a '01 Z28 and it has a small rear noise when i take my foot off the gas, is this normal? and how do you fix it.

What speeds are we talking about, all speeds, a paticular gear, highway speed, describe the sound, more info.

It's more noticeable at lower speeds just cuz of wind and such. But its more of a low drone, almost like you can hear it spin.
Also its an automatic.

read this thread. Im having issues with the rear too. These are some ideas that we have come up with. the other thing it could be too is rear end fluids. So maybe try a flush and refill. then you are going to be looking at bearings and axles. Hope this helps. I know exactly what noise you are talking about. Kinda like when a dishwasher is running a whossshhh wwhhhhoossshhhh noise. LOL

Most likely bearings. I am having the same issue currently. Did the fluid flush and fill and It's still there.

The sound described is probably the pinion bearing. My whole rear-end has started making more noise lately. Sucks doesn't it?

Sound exactly like the problem I had recently. I took it to the mechanic and turns out the pinion teeth had broken off. Fixed it in few hrs, now its quiet as can be back there. don't put off fixing it, as prolonging the problem will only cost you more $$$.
