Default Cam install, how long????

I was wondering what the average time for a cam install is. I will already have the exhaust
manifolds off (puting Jethot Lt's on ) I will have full acess to a full line of tools... to include a
lift and A/C recovery system I am pretty mechanically incline, but this will be my first LS1
install. If you could post your times that would be good

Thanks
Wes

for the first time, assuming you have done similar work and maybe have a helping hand for a few things.... i'd say 5 hrs for the cam, 3 hrs for springs and putting the valve train back together

If u have any questions feel free to call me at 254 899 1049 i could walk u through it. Me and my helper have been averaging 4or less hrs, depending on how much bullshitting we do per cam swap thats with swaping springs and we use no air.

thanks

It took a buddy and me 7 hours start to finish for headers, cam, springs, etc. I wish we would have had a lift. Save time not having to jack the car up.

A4's take a little longer than M6's, because you can't cheat on the balancer bolt Overall, a cam swap takes me 3-4 hours doing it by myself, and 4-5 hours if I'm walking someone else through it.

There's no need to drain the AC system, just lift the condenser and lower it out of your way..

You don't have to unhook the A/C system.

Just a heads cam swap, it can definitely be done in one day. Now, for a heads/cam swap, that takes considerably longer!

7.5 hours for my install.

Only like 2.5 hours for the actual cam swap, the rest for those damn REV springs!

You can do that by putting the piston at TDC... the valve will drop alittle but not much at all

dude I listened to these people and expected way less time than it really took. I did have to remove heads also to get out the lifters because I was changing them but, it took 2 full days the first time. The second time it took about 8 hours to break it down install and put it together. You will go very quick after you know where everything is but, first time takes a while. EVEN if you have instructions.

my first install took about 24 hours of work. you will NEVER have every part, so multiple trips to the store will commence. and if you think that those install guides tell you everything that you need to know then you are screwed the radiator is exciting.lol. and the valvesprings is a freakin NIGHTMARE. it will take a while to figure out how to "correctly" use the tool. i will never ever never do valvesprings again. screw that.

but overall it wasnt too bad. but you won't be doing it in 5-8 hrs.

What is a good resource for the average "Do it yourselfer"? I'll tell you what, I loved it when it came time to do some work on the 92 Silverado. Not a problem in sight. The LS1 on the other hand... jeeeeeze. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a good reference manual for the LS1.
