I have the Innovate wideband sensor and it does not seem to get enough heat to read correctly. This is a stock ls1 with headers and a very good exhaust system...o2 sensor is in the collector. I wonder if the heater is shot in the O2 sensor. If I get enough heat when cruising sensor seems to work but a little throttle seems to bring in enough cooler exhaust to skew readings. BTW readings go way lean. Any similar problems?

No problems here, Chuck. Do you have access to a laser temp gun? If not they don't cost much. Might be helpful for everything from the car to cooking... Hope you can solve it.

i just had my wideband die.
it was reading properly at low RPM/throttle position, but under moderate to
hard throttle it would give crazy readings that didn`t make sense.
i replaced the sensor and all is well now.

Had the same happen to me. Now I always keep a spare sensor.

Inside the sensor head is a ceramic (glass) bead/enclosure. Any moisture and or shock can crack it just enough to keep accurate readings at idle but, when higher pressures of exhaust come into play the crack widens up and you get skewed lean readings.

Replace the one you have, get a spare, keep the reciept- the bosch sensors have a 1 year manufacture's warranty.


Bosch 17014 or for the pimple popn' kid behind the parts counter, tell him/her you have a 2001 VW Golf 1.8L and need the front/pre-cat sensor.
