17" option on 98' Z-28?
I have a 98 Z I just started Autocrossing. The 16" tires are okay, but i want to upgrade to 17". In order to stay in the stock category, the wheels need to be a factory option. The style doesn't matter, only the 17" size and would have to be the factory size of 250/50 ZR17 if that was offered on the Z. I know the SS came with 17", but I need to know if the 17's were an option just for the Z.
Anyone buy one or have one where you know they were factory optioned on the 98 Z?
I want to buy new wheels and stickier rubber and need to stay within factory specs.
Any help would be appreciated.
1998 Silver Z', all stock. 13.5 seconds at 101 in 1/4. (slow 60' at 2.12)

According to the information I have (Camaro white book, factory overview books, etc), the only wheel option was N98 Chrome 16" wheels for a Z/28 model. The SS is the only model that got the 17 x 9" wheels.

There were never any optional 17" wheels for the Z28.
Last time I had heard, you could put 17" SS wheels on the Z28 simply because the 4th gen SS was technically just a RPO option like power windows or locks. Just like Mustang guys would be subframe connectors on their GT's because Bullitt's came with them from the factory.

Having owned my 98-SS since 98, I can vouch that the Z-28 never had a 17" option. And all SS's came with 17" standard. Why don't you take the Z-28 badges off and put SS badges on? The SS's and Z-28's all have the same vin for LS-1 motor.
