Default Is this a good cam?

228/232 @ .50 duration and the lift is 588/575 on a 112 lobe

I am thinking about buying this used. Is this a goood size cam to give me some more horse and can i keep my stock stuff in there with this cam. He doesn't want much for it. Does anybody know how much more horse this would open up

you need to change valve springs and pushrods with that cam. It's a good medium size cam, I run the same durations but more lift. With stock LS1 heads and LS1 intake, expect to see about 30rwhp or so. You also need a good free flowing exhaust and if you're an automatic you'll want a 3200 stall minimum.

Absolutely...although that cam would only require single springs....Comp 918's or PAC 1218's. You can definitely do it on a budget....I've got $900 in my cam swap and that's including an LS6 intake. Give me a shout....

stock springs will coil bind and destroy your engine with anything significant over stock lift numbers. stock pushrods will end up bending when you're constantly shifting at 6500 (that cam makes peak power around 6300). you'll need chrome moly ones.

Get a set of long tube headers if you dont have any. Otherwise you wont get the full potential of your cam. Also the LS6 intake and oil pump should be done as well.

Springs/pushrods are the only must, but looking at your sig you might want to start with bolt ons, it's already choked up with the stock cam.

definately do the springs and pushrods and an ls6 intake and headers/catback. I recommend do the ported oil pump and timing chain sicne everything will already be off and to be on the same side when your revving higher

listen to jefro6996 that is correct info. personally if i am going to spend the money to have a cam installed and then the car dyno tuned i am goint to put a big cam in it because that is a lot of money in to install and tune for only a decent gain from a mid size cam but you need to take everything into considiration. A extra couple hundred dollars over a used cam for like an ms3 cam is worth is to me because with good intake and exhaust that should put down or 400 to the wheels with the ms3. Just my two cents you still need to think about drivability but take a step back and think about dont just buy it cause it is a good deal and then not want it.
