Default Shiney Underhood... HOW?!?!!?

HOW in the h3ll do you get the underhood THIS damn clean!!?!?!

I've tried wax and Detail spray.. NOT EVEN CLOSE to this clean/shiney!! Well, FWIW, it's got a 418ci in it, so he may have had the underhood repainted..

THese are the only two decent underhood pics I have.. AIR, A/C and EGR crap is gone now.. Also the Cruise is deleted..

I was just thinking about this today myself. Pretty sure the difference in the body and the "not so shiney" parts is clear coat. Debating on rattle can clearing my engine bay..

Call me crazy, but I use tire wet on the painted non clear coated parts under the hood and it blings. I've been doing this for more than two years with no damage to the paint.

It takes alot of cleaning...and for maintenance, I find that not driving the car helps.

I used elbow grease and a clay bar to smooth out the paint on my fenders under the hood. It worked well but is time consuming.

i've done it with our work truck. All nasty and stuff, sprayed simple green let sit for about a min, rinse off with high pressure hose, then spray Son of a gun, or some vinyl protectant of choice on all plastic, hoses. But, don't spray on paint. After putting it on, close the hood, drive say about 10-15mins. after driving, let it cool off, and BAM!! nice CHINEY A BAY, BAY...lol

Don't use spraycan clear. It will turn everthing to a haze from the heat. On top of the peeling. Not a good idea. Cleaning and a good protectant works. That turtle wax ice stuff works good. Plus you can use it on everything.

What I use to do is actually use a Cleaner wax on the painted area in the engine bay.

Now, what I find easier is to spray the likes of Armor All or any interior protectant on the painted areas to give it that glossy look.

yeah, found that out the hard way taking off the stickers on the inside bay and using a plastic razor blade to get the small pieces off with goo-gone and when I was done, I had small scratches....nothing some sand paper, paint and wax cant take of though.

Thanx for the advice guys..

I cleared a bunch of stuff. I cleaned and cleared my LS6 intake before I installed it. I also cleared my radiator support. .. I really need to do the wire mod, yes.. One of these days. Well, that and the hood latch cable mod.

I'll try the cleaner wax. I ahve some carnuba. DAMN! I JUST threw my clay bar away yesterday! It was used twice on my car and on two other vehicles including my buddy's GSXR 1000. It was getting dirty, but I should have saved it for the engine bay! I use Armor All on all the hoses and ****.

It just seems that my paint it dull and orangepeeled under the hood. I'll try to get a newer pic of it today w/ all the deleted crap.

303 aerospace protectant would be goos for shining up all the rubber and plastic, and looks great on paint too. Just spray that stuff everywhere.
