ya i thought they came with the 60 as well but when i was looking for a filter awhile back on summit racing it said that the z28 needed the 4l80e so idk. either way i have a 4l80e that i will be putting in it if its not a big deal to swap them

It is a BIG deal and pretty pointless, but your mod list shows a propensity for poor choices so have at this one too.

k bud. that why i was asking to see if it was a hard swap or just bolts up because i have one laying around that i could have built up instead of having to pull the one out of the car now and have it sent out.

The 4L60E can be built to take a LOT, it is bad builders that give it a bad reputation.

Damn if that isn't true...Get tired of hearing my 4L60E been built like 5 times (by the some screw up)...Seen way to many 600+rwhp runs over years of drag racing to know if their done right they handle big power. So far, the only failure I've seen is Ryan's output shaft twisting in half on the 1-2 shift. 700+Rwhp can do that to a stock output shaft

Car will idle at 8mph and pulls harder on the brakes than my wife's bone stock 03 Impala. She enjoys driving the car too. The launch is all tire, her first pass ever she came within .1 of my best for the day and whittled it down closer yet to mine as she made her 2-4th passes EVER down the strip.

Thing is converters are highly dependant on the guy making the internal setup decisions. Before this I had a 2600 stall Level 10 and it drove worse and ran hot.

I would strongly recommend you stick with Edge, Yank or Vigilante. Edge is my personal pick but Vig and Yank are both very good converters too, they just cost more because of a billet cover which is overkill, great marketing point though. That billet cover cost money to machine hence the higher cost.

He's already learned that Cap is a jackass. He's well on his way to learning many things here.

I think (I don't know the newer gen transmissions) you can use the 80's pan and filter on a 60 for basically a "Deep pan" mod. There's much more than that to a 80 though.

to answer the Op's question Direct: Z28's came with the 60e, and swappin over to aan 80e isn't a direct swap, Im not sure what's needed but I know it's just not a bolt up and go thing...How hard is it to answer a question without some smart *** comment? Caprice, why you gotta post a smart *** comment in every thread you post in? like you're the king of LT1's, not everyone has been around the LTX cars as long as you and would like answers without your smart *** comments. so plz get ovr yourself pal

What's with the bashfest? The man is giving good information; he just likes to razz people while he does it. I look forward to his posts because A) people get all pissed off and B) there is a lot of good info in them.

Well said
As for the 4L80E swap...it's not that big of a project but does require some extra/expensive parts. Do some searching and you will easily find what you're looking for.

A well built 4l60E can EASILY take you into the 10's , see sig! Now you have to find someone worth a fug and there are very few IMO. I hope to see if this very Tranny will take 9's next week??? We'll see if the car can get into the 9's first and if the trans will take it?? A 80E is a **** to swap into our cars, I almost went this way before meeting my Transmission guy.

To swap an 80 in requires Wiring..programming, and some Chassis Mods..

As far as Caprice guy goes..he might have an attitude..but the guy does have some good info..
I do agreee that he might need a different way to convey it sometimes..but if you are happy with what you have, then you shouldn't let someone's comments get to ya..

I had some guy with a LS1 Camaro that was H/C, Spraying, Gears, Tune, etc.., smack talking the hell out of my "LT1" car callin them pieces of ****, etc..
I was like whatever..then someone said that I built it and he was pretty much like "If he's driving an LT1, then he doesn't know **** about building anything cause they aren't worth a crap.."

I got a little irritated, challenged him to a run, and handed him his *** infront of everyone..5 carlengths even before the 1/8 mark, and I was spinnin the hell out of second gear..

Then I told him what I had under the Hood that I had built..he looked at it, and got in his car, and left..lol

He got

I'm happy with what I have and what it can do..so I don't let crap get to me..
