Default Gear change tire size dilema need input please

I currently run a 4.10 (10 bolt) 4l60E Yank PT4400 Hoosier 26X10X15. I am going to put a 12 bolt Moser (spool) rear in. Now I can go to a 28 inch tire and bump the gear to 4.56. Problem is I dont remember what my RPM was crossing the traps (last track outing was Nov '04 LOL). I know she did lockup in 3rd before I crossed. Should I go with a 4.11 and stay with the 26? I dont wanna push her beyond 6800 thru the traps would 4.56 on a 28 inch tire keep me under that with my combo. I'm thinking the 4.56 on a 28 will make the car ET better. Any opinions?

with 4.11 gears in my car(STRANGE 12 bolt) at 124 mph,i go threw the traps at 6900 with a pt4400 on 28 et drags.1.42 60 ft,the taller tires help a lot on the launch.with a 26 inch tall tire you should of been going threw over 7000

NHRA are you running the 4L60 like me? If so does your converter lock up in 3rd at about the 1K foot mark? I was nowhere near 7K goin thru the traps we have very similar setups and HP/trq numbers.

yes 4l60e.No my converter does not lock up,lock up under full throttle generates gobs of heat in the trans.i dont see how yours is locking up without a manual switch to do it.you might want to call Yank to talk to them about it., because might toast your tranny.

Spoke to Mike at Yank today and I am staying with the current combo only a 4.11 now in the 12 bolt as opposed to the 4.10 in the 10 bolt. NHRA that trap rpm seems pretty high on a 28. Anybody else out there runing our combo's with some trap RPM feedback? Thanks !

I ran 125-6 bouncing off the rev limiter of 6800 rpm with 4.10's PT4400 w/lockup switch and 26" Hoosiers. 4.30's and 28's would be similar gearing I think.
