Default Wife turned key off while flashing PCM!!

car won't turn over now and EFIlive won't talk to the PCM... any suggestions or am I buying a new PCM? If so, how hard is it to wire a 99+ PCM into a '98? Wouldn't mind doing that anyway if it's relatively easy - though I've heard it may be hard...

were u doing a full flash or just the cal. if it was just the cal it should be recoverable. do a reset and try reflashing in the cal or if that doesn't work do a full flash.

Disconnect the cable from the OBD2 port, reconnect and try it. Maybe its just not communicating, might not be damaged. Check the cig lighter fuse. Open up scan tool and see if you can connect through there............Just some things to try.

Saw something similar, there was no connection to the PCM thru the OBD2 link, it ended being a blown fuse in the cigarrete lighter circuit.

Oh no, she has ruined your whole motor. You are going to have to replace it with a 427 now. No way she can complain about that. Oh and maybe a $50 PCM

This is the correct solution.

you might have to get the ecu reflashed with the stock tune and go from there. my battery died when i was using a handheld and i took the key out, had to pull the ecu out and brought to carquest, they put the stock tune back in. problem with that is the handheld still thinks it has a tune in my computer and it now is useless unless i send it back to the manufacturer to get reset as well. not sure if your situation will be the same or not

Tunercat for OBD2 has a PCM recover tool that works 99.9% of the time. If you can't get it to work with your software, email me the file and mail me the PCM and I can try it. Better than having a paperweight and spending $$ on a replacement PCM.

Use this opportunity as an excuse for a major modification ie... forged motor or a power adder. Wife cant say no.

Had a similar problems yesterday.
Do a complete re-write. If that doesn't work, its prolly fried. Call the software vendor and ask for any other suggestions before buying parts though.

If it was a cal only flash, you should be fine. Just follow the prompts on the screen.

Unplug everything (V1 , V2) from the laptop and OBDII port , undo the (-) on the battery (15 or more seconds) , hook everything back up try again should work .
Had it happen to me as well , this worked .

Thanks for the love everyone - I'll have a chance tonight to [secretly] try the fixes suggested, even if I do fix it you're darn right it's a good excuse to order some more mods/stuff for the engine... too bad she's savvy enough to know that it didn't ruin the whole motor Either way, at least it was a wake-up call to her to pay a little attention when doing this stuff. I had her driving so I could watch the data, and asked her when we stopped to leave the key on... a mind fart a couple minutes later subconsciously suggested "oh, why are the dash lights still on, i should kill the car."

Thanks again all! It's been quite the process getting into self-tuning...
