what up LT1 friends? Im new to ls1tech an im out of ABQ NewMexico.
Im putting together a 383 lt1 for my 97Formula ws6.So far i have a extra block with 4bolt main caps , compstar crankshaft 4340,eagle rods Hbeam,SRP pistons with invDome.Im goin to take out the stock 72k engine. What should i do about cylinder heads ,port my stock ones or get the TrickFlow heads?The engine is goin to get boost.From????supercharger or turbo i dont know yeat

if your going with forced induction and stroker then for sure get the trickflow over the stock heads

I would not be so quick to dismiss the stock heads, I see it as two choices, port the stockers or buy a set of trickflows from someone like Advanced Induction and have them ported before you ever see them. Using them as cast would be a mistake.


After rereading your post looks like you already have the cobbled together shortblock???
The full Compstar package is better than Eagle stuff and the price can not be beat for the quality.
If the shortblock is together we need specs because it may dictate your head choice.

Trickflows are a good choice with boost because the bigger chamber will lower the compression some which will allow you to run more boost.

Depends on the pistons, if the pistons already have a big dish then the 64cc chamber might be too big.

Look at the AFR heads if you can get your hands on some. Get those ported by a reputable company or person and get them to match them and a cam to your setup. You need to decide what kind of FI you're going to do and how much before you can go much further.

Thanks guys for your reply.the block is not put together it needs to get line bored for the eagle main caps.Also, i would like to have a set of compstar rods they are a step up from eagle.My brother has a 85mustang WITH a 395ci smallblock chevy turbo makeing 760rwhp with an eagle rotating assembly and the ET`s are 9.40@147mph .WE have had good luck with eagle.

Eagle is not bad but it is not good as Compstar.
The full balanced Compstar rotating assemblies are an amazing deal.
