clicking noise
My car started making a clicking noise when i make fast right turns especially with the traction control on. It seems to be coming from the rear of the car. It does not do it going striaght or left. Could this be the rear? I am running royal purple with GM posi additive 4oz bottle.

you have a stock 98 rearend correct? so you must have an auburn posi. you said you put royal purple synthetic gear fluid? When you put synthetic fluid on an auburn posi you tend to burn the clutches, this makes the posi do weird things on turns and take offs..

synthetic
NO SYNTHETIC in the friction type posi units PLEASE.
friction type limited slip units are Auburn CONE type unit and Eaton clutch type and track loc 1970 -1979 camaro clutch type.
Use a mineral based gear oil and the limited slip additive from GM or Lucas oil products.
Good luck and hope that solves your trouble click noise. if not it could be the cones is shot in the unit and you will need to replace the unit. You can drive ir and it will be fine but your posi will probably not work to great and just keep getting worse. Jim

OK.. well I just started geting a clicking from the rear that gets worse when I turns left or brake. It's a torsen and always gets synthethic. (The Torsen does not need the additive)
So is it the LSD or C-clips or bearing or something else? Already did U-joints.

a clicking noise which sounds like it's coming from the right rear and gets worse when making a left turn in neutral (M6).
i've had a drive line specialist check the rear and they found nothing. bearings were good and such...im clueless as to what it could be.

Did they check the rear axles and axle/wheel bearings?
That's what I'm thinking. The noise goes away if I drive the car like a sane person.

The torsen LSD has several (I believe 6) helical screw looking things round the outside of two hubs, which have matching threads. If the threads gets messed up, they will make noise going around turns. Mine used to do it a long time ago when one of the mesh gears got messed up from a piece of metal getting in there.
Here is a pic so you can see the gears i am talking about. The main gears you see are the central ones that the axles slide into to. If you look below the 'paddle' you can see one of the 6 gears that span widthwise across the case.
Try putting the rear end up in the air with the car IN GEAR, so the driveshaft does not move. then spin one of the rear tires and see if if encounters any resistance or makes any noise. If all the gears are good, the tires should rotate in opposite directions with very little effort.

Ha ha ha I have the same problem too. I drag race my car all the time nad i never hear the noise when im hualing ***** down the track. But when i drive like a grandma i can hear the noise. Its really noticable around the turns and at high speeds when i dont get on it when getting on the highway. Could it be that the rear end is going out. Its really no big deal i got another camaro with a built 10-bolt which i plan on swaping here in a month or so...
