Default New week... Time for a new mod.. Billet Vents!

Well its been a week or so it MUST be time for a new mod

I bought these billet AC Vents at the Pomona Super Chevy.. I liked them but there was too much silver since the exterior of the vents were polished and the insides of the vents were satin silver (milled alum).. but what to do?

I took the vents down to my coatings shop and then glass beeded (important) and then annodized the vents black. I then had the black re-polished off the exterior areas. this gave me a nice subtle look without overloading the dash with silver. Since I like my various areas of the car (engine, interior, exterior) to tie together I've been looking for ways to introduce some polished bilet into the cabin area.. I think this will look good.. Interior pics tomorrow when its light outside

Oh, and anytime I get rid of plastic on my SS its a good thing

Sounds like a good mod Steve. I'm not a fan of shiny stuff in the interior, but as long as it stays out of the light (reflections) it's all good!

Nope.. the billet vents use the factory slide levers and air diverters.. I have them installed in the car now and they look good. Remember that you actually see very little of the vents so its just a touch of shiny bling. Goes well with my shiny CF interior parts.. subtle

Do the stock plastic vents come completely out? I was looking at the billet ones and I dont see how they mount in there. I know what the vents look like and how they stay in there, but the sides arent designed as the factory ones are. They have little cirles on the sid of the vent that snap into the half cirlce slots. Thanks and by the way, where did you get those at?

The factory vents are made of three pieces.. the outer vent, the directional vanes and the vane bezel (that the vanes pivot in).. the vane bezel is retained and that is what have the half circle slots that allow the vents to pivot up and down. these are EXACT replicas of the outer vent OEM part. install took about 15 minutes..

I have to find the flyer of who I got them from.. maybe they will pipe in here. Not cheap (I got a deal) at about $250 a set but they are pretty darn complicated to make. I also spent about another $60 in annodizing and re-polishing them.. Hey, its only money right ..

Steve looks good. Been gone for awhile just got to see how the engine bay has turned out. Needless to say great job . I started back on finishing up some mods on mine and seem to have found a hole bunch more to get into. I will post pics of the finished product in a few weeks. I was wondering have you found someone to make your pcm cover yet? I am still trying to get them made at our shop and even tried to get mba to make them. Also did you use the zoop seal? If so how does it work I dont remember you posting on what you thought of the product.

Again great job

Don't forget one of those lead shields you put on when you get an x-ray. That much bling is sure to put out some radiation.

I'd like to see them anodized black, or even red.. I think that would look killer.. Polished stuff on the interior is just a bit much imo...
