Don't need to worry about chips unless you're always up other peoples' *****, lol. But seriously, it does happend and it's a PITA. I have a few, and I just got some touch up paint to fill it in. Being black makes it easier IMO.

i got a couple on my un-lowerd black z (one on the nose, one on the rear-view) because of loose gravel on the freeway. it doesn't annoy me as much as those damn bugs on the nose do.

Living In Wyoming means there are millions of little rocks all over the place. I've had to resort to leaving the bra on all the time. It's better than chips.

blieve it or note that Turtle Wax with color pigment in it really turns those white chips "black" on a black car.
Doesn't solve the problem but really makes a difference.
Big problem is that you get white wax and compound in the chip craters!
There si supposed to be some ultra wax with lamp black in it that is a miracle for black cars. Don't know any more than that.

Do a search on "Black car wax"

There is a really sneaky thing you can do.
Get a cloth and spray clear coat on it - get it soaking wet.
Quickly swab the white areas and like a miracle from the Great Camaro God, they will turneth black!
You can even build up a couple of these "coats" but let it dry.
Effect is amazing.

now this is SICK:
Filling big stone chip craters:
Get the touchup paint with the roller tip.
chip out all the compound with a dental pick while using silicone/wax remover.
build up a mound of paint from repeated applications.
lay strips of scotch magic tape along side your mound.
Slice the mound down using a STRAIGHT RAZOR!!!! (You have to get the right kind. If it has been sharpened it is NO GOOD - it will have a chisel point and will dig into the tape.
When you get that down, then poke a small hole in tissue paper. Lay it over what is left of the mound. and use the striaght razor. The tissue paper slides with the razor and keeps it from marking the paint. (If you have titanium ***** and a jewelers touch and a brand new straight razor - I hypothesize that you could put a couple drops of motor oil where the razor needs to slide on the good paint and it would not mark the paing. My razor is not that new.
Then wetsand with 2500 with a tiny balsa wood block. Sometimes the block is better, sometimes your finger tip.
Heres the TRICK: keep the area flowing with water from a squirt bottle and use the minimum force necessary to "feel" what is left of the bump. The pressure will be so low, that the sandpaper will actually float on the film of water and not appreciably cut into the surrounding clear coat.
If you are nuts, get some 4000 grid micro-fine cushioned abrasive (I got them all - all the way to 12,000 (yes 12k) grit. It costs about $10 a square foot and lasts many times longer than regular sand paper. Do a search to learn more.
Black cars suck....

My TA is red and I have some chips. If you keep on top of the chips and cover them when you find some new ones you will be the only one able to tell that there are chips on the car

Yea i have a black car too, not too bad on the chips, its the damn bug guts but with the chips, some touch up paint is ok but the best i found was using the black turtle wax on the front bumper. When you use reg wax, the wax gets in and fills in the chip marks with the white wax so it really shows, use the black and it fills them in black so you can hardly notice. For short term, try the black wax and some touch up paint.

I have been fortunate when it comes to rock chips, as I have only had a few. But the thing that has really been pissing me off is these gay little bugs that when I park in my cul-de-sac will fly into my paint at night and die so by the next morning there will be 20 to 30 of them that have practically cemented themselves to the paint and by the time I get them off they have already eaten through the clear coat a bit. Wierd thing is that when I park on my drive way I only get one or two. Go figure.
