Looks pretty good. If I might offer a suggestion - don't go "thumb up" on the 3/4 shift. Good way to pull it into 2nd. Search out "Ranger" on here. He's got a great writeup on driving an M6.

Here it is...

hey derek its cameron from sac! but ne ways thats not to bad but u need to keep ur foot in it a little more and a little quicker shifts. those seem like lazy shifts to me!

also u need to do a better burnout. bring the rpm's up let out the clutch quick and smooth then get on the brakes as soon as possible!

im no pro but i got my white t/a which is the same mods as yours and also a 6 speed to go 12.50's at 112!

Stop letting of the damn gas!!!!! your using way to much clutch to..You need to side step the cluch pedal and keep the gas pedal to the floor the whole time..If your lifting than your not shifting!!!

i would not do that! thats how u bend shift forks and break syncros! been there done that!

but ya stay 1/2 to 3/4 on the throttle and push the clutch just barley in and shift and let it out as quick as possible!

you want to let off just enough so that the motor doesn't sing to the limiter, just barely lift off the gas. When I was still an M6 that was what worked best for me

Derek,

Don't lift off the throttle at all. Your shifts should be fast enough to not allow the RPM to hit the limiter. It will take practice, but it can be done. My Trans Am was the first stick car I ever drove, I stalled it a ton of times on the way home, now I can powershift and see a less the 100rpm surge. It can be done.

Also, your 2-3 and 3-4 shift seem to be done in two motions. As you move the shifter forward for the 2-3shift, it appears to stop in Neutral, then go into 3rd. And the same thing going 3-4. You want this to be one, very precise, very deliberate movement. What shifter do you have?

If you want, you can check out one of my passes, it was a 10.46 @ 131.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=XedpZ_BkG4w

Same in car position as your car. Notice my right foot firmly planted on the throttle the whole way down the track. Also notice the singular motion of my hand on the shifter. My left foot only taps the clutch enough to allow the shift, no more, no less.

Hope this helps!

cool, thanks for some reason thats how my shifter is it wants to stop in nutral then go into the next gear, the shifter was on the car when i bought it. its a hurst thats all i know. it has the little adjust ment screws at the end so i dont push it to far in gear and damage anything.

any ideas on how to make the shifting more smothly? i think im going to bleat the system and put in new trany fluid soon. how much and what brand should i get>?

thats the shifter i thougth it had but was not sure. i remember saying that it hads like 35k miles on the trany and its from like a 00+ SS or something.

any ideas about the shifting not being so smooth? my evo i had befor had a stock shifter set up and it was smooth. i think that i just need to bleed thin lines or something. cus its like it hits a wall then it opens up so it can go in to gear

cam i also got another question. i ran on some salad shooters last time with 255 MT ET Streets, how should i launch and how long with the 10 bolt last with thoes tires lol

ummm ya im not sure about the smoothness i believe mine is pretty smooth but!

as for the dr's it first takes some time gettin used to them. but fist u need to do i nice burnout once u see smoke ciming from them pull out from the burnout. then u will just have to experiment. first bring it like 3k or so and quickly and smothley let the clutch out. if it bogs bring up the rpm's up and so on. as for the 10 bolt i havnt launched harder than 4k on my ten bolt and its intact so far but i would be real carefull.

I want to throw a 9inch and my slicks on that cra and launch the bitch! with a 1.6 it would be in the 11's!

i tried powershifting for the first time last week in my car, 99 with cam 9in and carteck clutch, ive got a pro 5.0 and all i did was put a little tention on the shifter, enough to take the play out, tap the clutch and shift at almost the same time, slides right in. ill tell you it feels like a different car when i powershift.
