Default Lingenfelter cams?

does anyone have any previous experience running a Lingenfelter cam? I'm sure the stuff is top notch, but I'm curious on the results. Also I want something streetable but yet puts out good numbers (breaking into the 12's). All my mods are listed in my sig, so what do you guys think about Lingenfelter cams?

The Lingenfelter stuff works very well, the 211/219 cam is far too often overlooked. Never ran it myself but everyone I know who has has run suprizingly well. A friend with self ported aluminum heads, that cam and a stock shortblock rand consistent mid 11s on a 150 shot in an Impala, upped the shot and took out the motor but still crossed the beams at 11.2.

There is a guy who will likely respond who has a lingenfelter stroker and had that 211/219 cam and I believe ran 11s for YEARS and years before stepping up to a little more aggressive cam and slight head touchup. Looking for 10s now.

What, you don't think a computer program is better that actual testing?

everybody chooses to run bretts or joe's cams for a reason, because theyre proven to make power! NOT saying that the ligenfelters don't make power but not too many people run their cams.Just my opinion

Actually more people run those cams than you think. Not everyone that has an f-body posts on message boards. And FWIW I ran a 12.4@115 with the crane 227 cam, an a/f in the mid 11's, and valve float past 5800 RPM's. Then I swapped that out for a gm846, new springs, and a tune that was in dead on in the a/f and I lost 1mph and was stuck trapping 114mph. So in my case bigger slowed me down and that wasn't in a heavy *** impala.

Yep, I see lots of key board commandos talking about what they'd buy. I believe that many posts are from kids that still have a stock LT1 or no car at all.

I'll stick with combinations of parts that work, vice looking for which cam has the best kick azz idle sound.

We have installed over a dozen LPE cams so far this year. They make great power and work every time. They even pass emissions with out a hint of a problem.

The Wife has one in her car and I used to run one in mine. Good reliable stuff!

My LPE LT4 heads/CC 1.6 HiTech RR'S/intake/211 cam/3.73 gears/DR's/Hooker LT's/ORY/Ed Wright dyno tune(actually tuned before the Hooker LT's and ORY were installed) ran a 12.0 @ 115.5 w/ a 1.75 60'.
It drove and idled like stock and surprised the **** out of many people.

Hey Ellis. I've been meaning to get ahold of you. I FINALLY got the 396 built and in the car. Just need to get it tuned now. Just bought a house so all car **** has been put on hold. Probably won't be getting it tuned until November at this rate! New house has a 950sqft 3 car garage.

im using the edelbrock 2108 cam which is almost completely identical to one of lpe's cams..I called them and they told me there cam was capable of 12's in a cam only set up with all supporting mods of course in an fbody..I dynoed 308/320 through a 3200 EDGE Stall on the last dyno and that was with a shitty optispark..it went out a few weeks later...im happy with the cam...bigger is not always better

Hey I know how the house thing goes Took me three years to get the car going again. I am putting the heads back in tomorrow. Two broken Valve springs and six cracked ports. We had to take some work out of the ports and start all over again. They should be better then before

Looks like pushing a head gasket was a good thing

I can't wait to see your car run! Hell we might even be able to hook up at the LTx shoot out if we can get it going

I won't be running my LPE cam though

A guy over on the other big forum made 315 with a crane 210/224 through stock exhaust manifolds.

Do not trust tech info from big companies, the person on the other end of the line is a clueless customer serve rep NOT a knowledgabe gearhead and Edelbrock makes little to nothing worthwhile for late model stuff, they TB is about the only decent LT1 part they make and even that requires some tweaking to be useable.

I'm thinking I'm the guy you speak of...Anyway, Dwayne is right I ran the 211/219 cam in the LPE 383 for 10 years running high 11s and a few low 12s at 115ish with 3600 lb raceweight...The cam passed MDs emissions and ran great...I was going to step up to the 219/219 .560"/.560" which is another great/proven cam, but I ran into Joe Overton and we went a wee bit bigger with a 226/234...

The LPE cams are often overlooked, but seem to be making a comeback...Lingenfelter believed in good hp with great drivability...and thats what you get with their stuff...

...And I'm now going into my 13th year with this motor...Just added 4.10s/spool, QA1s, 275 lb front springs, and 275 60 R15s to give me a 28" tire to help the launch...10s N/A? I dunno, it may be realllllly close...

not exactly sure of your point there...the numbers i put down were to the wheels through a 3200 stall...so 315 to 308 not a huge difference there..I agree Edelebrock doesnt make a whole lot of stuff for the fbods that are any good but Im more than happy with the cam..it made good power for a SMALL cam through a stall though....

had LPE 219 in a 91z28 in 92 ran 12:6s with ease,vette heads,2400stall 3.23s,slp headers,factory dual cats,perf.resource chip.yes, it had other mods but still
the TPI ecm is the slowest computer since the commodore vic20
so an Lt1/Lt4 will definately run hard!
LPE was and is still into hard running emmisions complient perf.cannot knock them

This is really helpful guys, just wanted to thank you for all the responses. I've talked to Ellis in pm's and he's given me quite a bit of information as well. I am most definitely going with a lpe cam.

Last question for you guys tho. I see some people are running these cams with stock heads, which is what i am planing to do for now. What would be YOUR recommendations on a lpe cam with stock heads. I know What particular ones should i be looking over, that are still considered streetable?

Bare in mind, my goal for next year is to be running 13 flats to high 12's. I think considering the fact that i'm doing full suspension (umi), the lpe cam, my current mods in my signature, and i'm reinforcing the rear end to run DR's. This seems like a tangible goal, right?
