Default 3 1/2" exhaust??

so here's the deal...i want to use kooks 1 7/8" stepped to 2" w/ 3 1/2" collectors with my 427 build, now i've found cats that fit BUT i can't find decent metallic cats that have a 3 1/2" inlet and a 3" inch outlet, ergo, i have to run a 3 1/2" exhaust.

3 questions:
1. is 3 1/2" too much??? would power, sound, efficiency suffer?
2. ground clearence, do you think that its possible to tuck them up close enough not to create a clearance problem?
3. does anyone know where i can find a 3 1/2" cut out...preferable electric??

1. I don't see 3.5" being too much, especially if you're running a 427. It's somewhat overkill on my car but I love it. Bigger tubing like that gives the car a real unique sound.

2. It can be tucked up very nicely with plenty of ground clearance.

3. I am not sure about the 3.5" cutout and cats. If you're really having a hard time find them online contact Mufflex. They do A LOT of 3.5" and 4" exhaust systems, if it's available they'll either have it or know where to get it.

Here's my car with a 3.5" catback:

Trenton NJ.

If you can find a reputable shop around you, if Mufflex isn't close, see if they can work with 3.5" tubing. Mufflex can make anything you want but it won't fit aswell then it would if it was made specifically for your car.
