Default Modified T56 Lockout?

Has anyone looked at the possibility of modifying the hated 'skip shift' solenoid to serve the useful function of momentarily blocking the first gear gate? Seems like it would be possible to program a modded solenoid to a 'upshift only' mode, where you can only go up in gears during a run, then disable the mode for normal driving..
May take some programing, but the computer does know what gear you are in at any time.

Just a thought

Mine is modded where the lock-out shaft that it fires was cut so it does not block me out of any gear. It still fires, but there is no more shaft there to cause me any problems.

I've heard of doing this before. Might want to ask in the PCM forum, it seems to be more of a tuning thing.

The way the skip shift arm is designed inside the unit , I don't think its possible . I personally leave the stupid things out when building the transmissions unless the customer specifically ask me to reinstall it (which has never happened) .........

It is not only possible but I have done this. I will do no good to just focus on the PCM because the internat trans parts will not really do what you want. It takes a special offset lever to do this.

I personally always wanted to see if you could program it to block 2nd gear for the 3-4 shift. something like anything above 5 rpm in 3rd would block 2nd. Then take it to 7000 rpm and rip away for 4th, without a worry of grabbing 2nd.

Still surprised someone has not figured this out yet in the programming. I think almost every M6 user would pay for it.

I have done this mod for the guy that does not want to get the 1/2 gate at certain times. It works without PCM programming( no need for it) but it does take a special lever. When powered on, and in the 1/2 gate, it allows a 1-2 shift. Once the 2-3 is made, the 1-2 gate is locked out. It is intended to save engines from overspeed when a woops( wrong) gear is selected. It works quite well for road racers . A momentary defeat button when wanting the 1/2 gate tops off the system nicely.I am working an a similar 3/4 gate protection but this is alot more tear up.

i have a lockout to prevent shifting to 5/6/R when at the track. i did not design it, but have thought about mass producing it. i should call the individual back who created and get a patent on it, lol!!!! i have never shifted 3-2 at the track so that has never been a concern of mine. fwiw.
