well...i dont really like borla...a friend of mine had it on his camaro and he hated it...and the slp kits sound way too raspy for me. i just like a deep melow tone but loud at WOT.

Then magnaflow is for you...I've got magnaflows on my duals (i know....different setup) but they are really deep at idle, and scream pretty good at throttle. A buddy of mine has a Magnaflow catback on his 97 TA and it sounds great, pretty mellow driving around until you get on it.

I did the same thing for my flowmaster, but the one thing you have to realize is a cat back is most likely a 3 inch pipe where the stock is a 2.5'' pipe. So your just choking down your hi-po part. One thing Ive learned, by doing it also, not to do is cheap out. It cost more in the long run. My flowmaster 80 series $90 + $100 for the weld + $50 for the tips. thats $330 the same price as a magnaflow cat back, and I dont even have the 3'' piping, dammit!

They don't suck, and I'd rather have Magnaflow over Borla. I do love my Loudmouth though.

Magnaflows are great. I run their 3" dual muffler coming off LT's on my catless x-piped TD's, and it sounds awesome at idle and SCREAMS at wot. I have a sound clip hosted if you would like to hear it.

Default Sounds great!

To reiterate, the stock exhaust is 2.75". I did the same thing you're thinking about doing and it worked out fine and sounds great. Part No. 12267, with the 3" inlet/2.5" outlet. Here's a link at how it sounds:

Go with the Magnaflow you will like it, with LT's and No Cats it reallyyyy woke it up. Its tame and deep under normal driving but when you get on it its pure hell from the outside.

No prob.

As far as the install, I had a muffler shop do it. The 3" input on the muffler should slip right on the 2.75" stock pipe, with a little welding/clamping.

As far as gain...I really can't tell a "seat of the pants" difference, but I don't have a true CAI, so that could be the reason why. I did it mainly for sound. Supposedly unless you go with a CAI, LT's and either no cat or hi po cat, there's not a really big gain, if any.

But the sound...nice...so it was worth the $100.
