Need some input, stuck on what to do!
Here's my dilemma. 98 TA, a4, 2.73s.
Got some 3.42's for a 3 series from a buddy with the intention of finding a 3 series differential. So far, ZERO luck.
Found some 2 series gears new on thunder racing's site for $225 + basic gear install kit. I could go with the 3.42's as originally, or step up to the 3.73's.
Or, I could look for a axle to axle 3.42 rear with low miles, and keep my 2.73 rear as a backup in the garage, or sell it.
What do I do, and what would be the friendliest cost wise? The only 3 series differential I have found so far was over $500, so I have ruled that out unless I find a used one, as stated ZERO luck.
Car will only see a few bolt ons for now, so I will be happy with either/or 3.42s or 3.73s if I decide to go the 2 series route.
Input?
Also, if this helps, I will be going with a 3800 or 4000 stall. I will be doing gears first for now, and converter down the road.

try the parts for sale forums... look under people parting cars out.
I have bought a few off of here, just keep your eyes open. You could even post an ad in the parts wanted area...
