Default High horsepower boyz, what clutch are you running

What clutch are you running?

Pros and cons.

My stock clutch slips under full throttle with drag radials in first and second gear, it finally hooks when pulling 3rd.This does not make good et's.

Thanks for anyones input

+1 for what you consider "High Horsepower"...

I've got 500+ rwhp and 620+rwtq
300+ runs down the 1/4 mile
over 75 of them on the nitrous and M/T drag radials (avg 60' of 1.6x)

all on a "STOCK" clutch
I've not driven the Tex (but heard great things especially the twin)
I will be going with the mcleod industries "Street Twin"
my roommate (and several local friends) have this clutch,
it's easy to drive, and holds 1200+bhp

Most are running a LS7 clutch or a Textralia. Fredbeans.com usually has the best prices for the LS7 clutch kit.

I don't know, I'm in the 10's and I'm running a Cartek clutch. Have over 15K miles on it now and right at about 600rwhp.

I'm running an LS7 clutch but I'm switching to a RAM Street Dual Clutch kit that has the capacity for 1,000 HP and 900 ft/lbs of torque, but engagement is supposed to be silky smooth. I've got the new clutch and am just waiting for some time to get it installed.

Have you run the dual disc clutch or just their HD/HDX clutch?

530rwhp/440rwtq... not exactly "high horsepower"

Spec 3 clutch.... it has more miles on it than my GTO does, used in my 2000Trans Am and took some serious abuse.

Now in the GTO, holding nicely. 26x11.5x17" ET Streets at the track and can still spin them off the line with a 4500-5000RPM launch at 12psi in the tires. Clutch holds it all.

This clutch never chattered in my Trans Am, but chatters pretty good only during take off in first gear, can be slipped by the chatter or just let out really slow and it won't chatter.

Other than that... Mods and Times in Sig...

How's everybody's driveshaft holding up? Some guys are having some problems at high revs on w/vibrations taking out either the tailshaft of the tranny or the driveshaft.. Here's a thread from the GTO forum about a guys' tailsection of his tranny blowing apart.

Everything's holding up fine with my set-up so far. I'll let you know after some more abuse at the end of the Month racing at Atco Raceway!

Spec 3..Clutch chatter was terrible for the first 500 miles, now it is great, hooks excellent. Make sure you buy a matching flywheel.
