Alternator mounting problems
I'm making alot of progress on my 55 LS1 conversion, but just got stuck with the alternator! I'm running an electric water pump with a S&P cylinder head bracket. The problem is the belt hits the bottom of the electric motor on the water pump. I'm not sure what to do with this setup, does anyone have any ideas or input? Any advice or information is greatly appreciated!

Why not move the alternator down low and tight to the block??
you can bolt one side straight to the block with a short round stock spacer piece (I can give you the exact measurement if you need it). 30 seconds cutting a piece off a stick of round stock....
Other side use a standard two ended heim joint attached from the block to the alternator for tensioning and adjustment...

Do you have a pic of that setup? I have a stock f-body bracket, but the frame on the 55 doesn't allow me to use it.

Its B.S. that you can't get an alternator bracket for around $200 that works with this setup. I grew up on SBC's and there is no way it should cost $550 for a freakin LS1 alt bracket! (A little pissed right now) I'm guessing I have to go back to the stock WP to make this work.
