Default Those with Kooks, did u use their gasket?

For those few here that have Kooks headers, did you guys use their gaskets they supplied, or did you use some other one. I used theirs with no problems but i've heard that the GM gaskets are the best. Should I stay with the ones supplied or change em out? Thanks

Use the GM gaskets. I used ones supplied from FLP, and 7 months later ended up changing them out.

Actually, go with the Kooks gaskets. They told me they are matched to their headers and they are. They follow the flanges exactly. I know this because I put on on backwards and I couldn't bolt up the header.

yeah, with most all header companies, they send you the proper gaskets that match the headers, because there more open, the port holes are usually bigger and perfect fit, I say go with what they sent you, just make sure you torke them properly

I just installed my headers about a week ago. I had the same question as yourself. I did a lot of checking around and talk to several of lS1 tech's top sponsors and they all told me to go with the gm gaskets. On the other hand, since you have already installed them, I would continue to run them until you experience problems. At that point I would go with the OEM gaskets.

What kind of gains did you experience???

I just used the stock gaskets. I'd rather use a metal header gasket over a paper gasket to prevent leaks.

I was wondering the same thing, I had both and decided to use the kooks, their exhaust holes are larger than the GM gaskets!

But are the GM gasket holes smaller than the header port openings?
