Default What is a good muffler upgrade from Stock???

Looking for a bit more sound from a stock 99 Z M6.

Nothing too loud, or teenage like (I'm 44).

Nice burble, not loud at freeway speeds, sounds powerful when you stand on it.

Also want to use stock tips.

Magnaflow is the only thing that comes to mind. Flowmaster sounds good too, but there is always room for debate on the power output with the 80 series.

Which hooker kit did you buy, a complete cat-back or just a muffler?

Dual/Dual. I've had both and the Dual/Dual sounds better and doesn't have the annoying rattly sound in mid/upper rpm's. I've heard the hooker is good too.

if you just want to swap out the muffler and not do a cat back.Get the Hooker Aero Chamber its sounds real mellow and is not to loud at all but sounds mean when you want it to.
I think there about 70 bux or so

keep the stock muffler and get a cut-out. mccord power plate or qtec. Have the benefits of both worlds. Stock quiet or REALLY f'n loud.

Hooker.

It's quiet when you wanna be & loud @ WOT. Has a nice deep tone with the least rasp of any other I have heard. Even with LT's & ORY. I have had mine since the car was stock & it just gets better with more mods.

When I bought my car, it had a B&B cat back exhaust on it. I really liked the way it sounded. Pretty quiet at idle, but when you opened it up; it was pretty loud.

I put a magnaflow muffler only on my stock 98 Formula. It cost about $80 and has a nice mellow throaty sound. Much nicer than stock. I used the stock tailpipes but had to add about 3 inches to the drivers side exhaust pipe on the muffler to keep them in the stock location. They extend a couple inches further than stock but still aren't past the rear bumper.
