I'm at a cross road here and thought I would see what you guys thunk.
I'm putting together an LSX 427 and S91 combo. I have a brand new set of AFR 225 72cc heads that I was going to use, but since I'm going with the LSX block now, thought I might try out the stock LS7 heads/intake and take advantage of the 6 bolt heads. Think it's worth while, or stick with the AFR's? Not sure on the selection of boosted pistons for the LS7's either, something else I need to look into.

I didnt think that stock LS7 heads have 6 bolt patterns. If they do I would use those.

Without a doubt the 6 Bolt Heads.....
If your going to push it ( The Combo i mean) then anything beyound 20 psi you will start to lift the heads and push water......

Shoot, I think your right, I thought the LS7 heads did but it must be the Warhawks I was remembering.
So who makes 6 bolt heads besides Warhawk, does ETP?
Edit: Looks like ETP does, as well as All-Pro. Now to see how much $$..

That's what I was thinking to. I might run it up a bit over 20 psi.

If memory serves me correct the ETP's are between $3500 and $4K. Then they go wayyy up if ya want Inconel and titanium parts....

OH MY GOD. I hate hearing about all this 6 bolt stuff. Every time I contemplate a 6 bolt combo its BIIIIIGGGGGGGGG $$$$$$$$$$$. I hope my new plan (still 5 bolt), "14psi and reliable" will pan out

Looks like your right on the money there Kyle. Heads are gonna cost as much as the short block almost if I go with the 6 bolt design. Anyone want a deal on a new set of AFR's, lol?

Yeah i researched it quite a bit for my new Build.
Ill be sticking with what i have and just going with more cubes, a bigger turbo and trying out the thicker deck Warhawk heads i have with double O-Rings and copper gaskets.

Did some calling around today, only one to answer the phone was All Pro. Talked to Bob there extensively on their LSW Head. This seems like one nice head and Bob was very helpful, but looks like I need to use T&D or Jessels which will tag another 1000-1500 bucks to it. You can use a LS7 manifold though which I like. What springs you guys running on your heads and what seat pressure? Is a 150ish seat pressure enough on semi high boost turbo setup? I'm also conteplating solid roller now and use a stiff spring.
Any Pics of those Warhawks?
