Default ??? '04 Z06 85mm MAF Connector & Screen Questions

I need to change to a bigger MAF on my 408. Is the connector on the 04 Z06MAF the same as on the F body? I know SLP sells a MAF and it shows a connector in the picture, but I don't want to buy the SLP unit for $200 when the OEM Z06 unit is much cheaper. Also is the Z06 unit screened, if so does the screen pop right out like it does on the LS1 MAF? Thanks

I think it is the same. That is the Delphi unit on the Z06. If it is screened it should pop right out.

The Z06 MAF is far supiorior to the stock LS1 MAF. It uses different tables though, if you have LS1 edit I can get you the tables for a Z06 MAF.. it WILL make a difference. Do not put it in unless you have an editior type deal such as LS1 Edit (not sure what others can do it. I think EFI live can, but costs alot more )

EFI Live is what I used on my Z28 when I put the Delphi unit in.

My dyno shop, Mike Norris, uses ls1 edit, so that's no problem. The car will have to be retuned anyway because I'm also going with a NW TB and Fast intake. The question is does the Z06 MAF need a 5 wire to 3 wire connector harness and is it screened?

You need the 5 wire plug. Get a pigtail (or last 6" of a junkyard
truck harness) and solder it up, or adaptor from Casper's, use the
IAT in the MAF.

The screen is more difficult to remove than the F-body MAF in
my experience. The Camaro MAF screen just fell right out after
a night submerged in paint stripper (end only, not the guts).
The truck MAF I had to use an X-acto knife and it didn't come
out as clean (not that I intend to put it back). Z06 is unscreened
from the factory. Truck MAF off eBay is a hundred bucks or so
cheaper than retail though, if you want to pull the screen yourself.

I can get the 5 wire to 3 wire harness for $24, so that isn't an issue. Is there, since I'm gonna get tuned anyway, any difference other than the screen, between the Z06 and the truck MAF? I can buy the Delphi truck MAF, 213-4160 [GM 15904068] new locally for $133, and the Z06 MAF, 213-1150 [GM 25341604] for $180, so I obviously would prefer the truck MAF. Thanks again.
