General LSX Automobile Discussion - 02 C5 or 09 Camaro

Hey guys....u helped me out of the jet ski decision......but the real question is. Do I trade the ws6 in now for the 02 blk/blk c5 or wait and trade it in for the new camaro? Just trying to see what you guys think when u put these two up against eachother!

Go with the new Camaro, the C5 is old, and you're T/A has nearly the same performance as the vette. It's only another year...

We better support the new product or it will last about as long as the new GTO did. GM is kind of fickle about model commitment.. The new Camaro is going to have to be priced 25-30k less than the Vette in order to hit the targeted buyer. So when it comes out new it will be a better buy than a used Vette. That's just my opinion.

Yea I say go with the new Camaro but IDK what the price is goin to be, do you guys think for a while there goin to be like the stangs and have a dealer markup?

I figure its going to be around 30 just like the GTO........besides what do you guys think a 02 c5 is worth with that many miles, being auto?

I would say around 20ish + or- some. With that many miles its not really not a "collectors vette" its more of a DD and is 7 years old. Now if the miles were lower I would say it would be worth more, but since you can get a new C6 for around 40ish I just dont see the C5's holding there value that good anymore although there still sweet cars.

Can't beat a bumper to bumper warranty.

WOW, your better off goin private party adding a grand or two and gettin a low millage Z06 if you goin to spend that much

get whatever you want. the car you have now is badass, the corvettes badass, and the new camaro is sick. get whatever fits your budget and you like best

Hold on to the TA. Get the new Camaro if you want a new car that bad. If not the new Camaro just get a vette later you'll have more money in a year anyway.

I voted 09 camaro simply because Chevrolet 73 is a pain in the ass to deal with ( ask me how I know :engarde:)

An 04 z06 is a much better car and those can be had in the high 20's right now. That would be my choice over an 09 Camaro.

i would wait, I'm not going to buy an 09 camaro, i'm going to buy one if they are only making them for a year but if not i'm going to wait for about 2-3 years to let them get the bugs out. i would wait and get the camaro if i was in your shoes though

There is no C5 in the world that I would pick over the '09+ Camaro design.

Now, if it's C6 vs 5th gen Camaro, that might be a different story, but as for the C5 vs '09 Camaro, I'd take the Camaro any day of the week and twice on Sunday. :judge:

i say go put a deposit for the new camaro.... it will be desired by anyone with a pulse and will be way more noticeable that a 08 z06 for half the price, not to mention that by the time the 09's out the 02' vette will be an old body style 7 model year old car. I think you would be silly to jump into an 02' vette with that many miles while you obviously yern for the 09' camaro.... remember patience is golden... i wish i would have waited to get what I wanted.

Very true, they will not deal on anything and their prices are high anyways. But i say hold off, at least till the new camaro comes out and you can drive it. Everyone knows how a C5 drives. The technology of the vette is going to be over 12 years old by the time this car comes out. Drive both and your going to love one or the other

i agree with ricketzSS wait till you can actually sit inside one see how well you mesh with the car. this is all an opinion based decession and you cant even make a informed decession on the camaro until its out yet. and if you wait till it comes out then by that time if you still want the vette then the price will have dropped to get one.

a camaro is going to be a great car. plud id never buy a c5 with an auto.

plus the 09 camaro turns into a giant robot :jest:

I say wait for the Camaro. Be one of the first to get your deposit in so you can have one of the first ones in your area. That would be bad ass, Im still thinking about going that route.

IMO I'd keep the T/A and save up a decent amount to use as a down payment for the new Camaro...

any word yet on the release date for the 09' Camaro yet???

Im in the same predicament, Should I get the new camaro or an 04 zo6?.....after i finish paying off my current 02 camaro. I love the handling and look/performance of the c5 and it will be more affordable compared to the new camaro.

But bumble bee sure looks good :)
