Uhmm, I'm pretty sure sythetic is recomended with the torsen diff. w/ no posi additive required, and auburn requires non-synth dino type for the clutches or cones to not ne contaminated.

i run Ams Oil synthetic in all my 10bolts with the torsen diff and i have yet to have a problem with any of them. The compuer at NAPA listed a fully synthetic gear oil to be used in 98-02 camaros and firebirds so i would say use it.

Napa didn't design the Auburn diff. You cannot use synthetic in an Auburn and have it work properly, it uses metal against metal cone clutch/side gears. Sure you CAN use synthetic but it's not going to hold as well.
Any all gear type diffs like the Torsen or TruTrac can use whatever you want to use in them, those who know recommend mineral oil (non synthetic).
Theres a huge difference between what a parts store book says and what works in the real world.
Don't believe me? Go get a pinion seal from Napa for your '98 to '02 F-Body and see if it fits.

Auburn specifies a NON synthetic as stated in the posts above: http://www.auburngear.com/aftermarket/faq/#q2
The GM owner's manual DOES specify a synthetic for the Zexel. This is to prevent the "rusty screw" anomaly in their geared torque biasing differentials. This is not for performance or longevity but to preempt owners from fretting over that rare noise coming from the axle housing. Zexel however does not specifically recommend synthetic. Their specifications point only to the GL-4 and GL-5 type oils. http://www.torsen.com/fsae/fsaefaqframes.htm
