Default Anyone know about Oxygenated race fuel?

Guy was telling me about it at the track today, anyone have any experience w/it?
Sounds like a good way to get more O2 through the motor.

I talked to the guy I get my race fuel about that stuff. Problem with it is that it goes bad really quick. He was saying, that if you were to get a 55 gallon drum of it, you ned to be racing every weekend and use it up that fast to avoid problems.

So how long off a shelf life?I do know that it's 4 bucks more a gallon than c 16ahere and that puts the price to 14.00 a gallon.Might as well just pill it up.

The shelf life once the drum was open, he was talkign wasn't much more then a couple months, and it's very very tempermental about temp/humidity that it's stored in as well.

On paper it seems like a good idea, but the cost, and the fact that you have to use it real quick, nevermind the pita of keeping it in a cool dry place certainly don't seem to worth the trouble to me.

This is Torco fuel fwiw.

Its a great sorce for making power for N/A but power adder cars i think you can do without.

Seems like if the fuel has more O2 in it then the stoich value would be more lean than 14.6.1 which would change a lot of stuff.

I ran some on the dyno to compare back to back btwn regular 91 and some oxygenated fuel ( i think it was 104)

the car went rich by almost a full point and i lost 10 hp across the board. Not sure if i would have leaned it out if the power would have come back or not. I thought the a/f would have gone the other way, since it already have some oxygen in it.

Dirtbike racers have been using it for a few years now, i know it make power, but it didn't on mine.

You can order direct from VP in smaller quantities than 55 gallon. As long as you store it cool, and in a metal can, that will prolong the shelf life.

You usually have to richen the car up using highly oxygenated fuel, thats how you can get away with a lower octane fuel since running richer raises the knock index.

Shorter shelf life is a new one on me (not saying its not true, just never heard it myself), I used to run sunoco 104 unleaded which is highly oxygenated and have let is sit in the drum for over a year with no problems. Some regular pump gas is oxygenated as well and I have never seen any storage warning about it.

As far as more power anything can benefit from it if you tune the car for it, its not going to make a huge difference and the reason its not real popular is because it wont pass fuel checks at sanctioned events.

APPARENTLY one of the local guys was dyno testing it in his car and when he got it all figured out he picked up 30rwhp.

Thats just what people are saying though.

I never had the chance to use it ,but I have 20 gallons of cmp fuel in sealed 5 gallon containers 150.00 for all 20 gallons is a steal. It's 68 bucks a 5 gallon jug pm me if you guys are needing some to try. I talked to some guys that race every weekend and knew there cars. They were running mid to low 10's and picked up .08 hundreths over regualor fuel so its an improvement for sure.

If you tune for it you can see some pretty good gains. But, as has already been stated, it is illegal in just about every performance based class.
