Full exhaust and headers will really wake the car up! M6 or A4? Gears really wake up autos with 2.73s. Free ram air mod, if you havent already thought of that. Finally, get some real tires on some real wheels.

M6 is manual 6 speed, A4 is automatic. The free ram air mod is when you cut the baffels from under your air box and pull out the defusers.

Manual 6 speed or auto 4 speed. Search the free ram air mod, it involves drimmeling(word?) some baffles under where your air filter sits. Too find out if you have 2.73s, look on your driver side door jam sticker and see if you have a code that reads GU2 which is 2.73s, or GU5 which means you have 3.23s. It will show up in some mass of letters towards the top I believe. If you have 2.73s, get rid of those before anything! Get some 3.42s or 3.73s.

P.S. Autos aren't all that bad. Do some reading about torque converters.

gears and a stall for your a4 with some pacesetter long tube headers coupled with a o/r y pipe and a cat back exhaust or get headers and some cut outs. get a tune after those and you will be happy.

long tubes are the headers they extend down and under the car into the y pipe instead of the y pipe coming up to meet the manifolds/shortty headers

loud mouth flows pretty good but its loud, the media section has a thread with clips of various exhaust set ups.

Baffels are under the air box. Just a piece of plastic with little slits in it. Just cut that out around the opening. The long tubes are the header design. A stall is the Torque converter in your automatic transmission. You can buy one that will stall out until a set rpm for a better launch!! hehe

depends on how deep your pockets are...some very good brands are kooks, PaceSetter,QTP's etc..DO NOT GO WITH SLP LONGTUBES if you are going to lower the car any...TRUST ME I KNOW...flipin speedbumps..but either way get the long tubes and get them ceramic coated or stainless steel...worth every penny...

my advised mods...

K&N filter's
PaceSetter LT's ceramic coated
true dual exhaust
Royal purple 10w-30
rear 02 sims
3:73 gears (or save yourself some real trouble and buy a 12 bolt)
Boyd cottington wheels,or Torque Thrust 2's or ZR1's...
17x9.5 up front and 17x11" out back...315's look sick!!!
QA1 coil adjustible shocks all 4 corners
stall converter...ask around...some of the guys on here have buck nasty auto cars...
ported & polished LS6 heads and cam of your choice.
underdrive pulley
ported throttle body
atleast an LS6 intake if not a fast 90/90 set up
MSD plug wires
NGK spark plug 555 is the series i think...
160 degree thermostat
power slot rotors
hawks brake pads
LINE LOCK
m/t drag radials out back!!
cant think of much else right this minute..but that should get you started int he right direction...

check the heads and cam thread for different results with different head and cam combos...and dynos arent everything either..streetability matters a TON...
good luck and keep us posted!!!

A good place to start is the sticky threads at the top of each forum page. They have alot of great info. and will help you better understand some of the terms that gearheads use. The usual first mods include some kind of exhaust upgrade, a new lid, and some "free mods". Read the sticky threads and that will help us help you!

Default Exhaust

I like the sound of the Magnaflow exhaust. Not to loud but loud enough. Very good sound.. And at a good price to.

hey they are getting into very deep stuff i would just get a catback exhaust first to make it sound and flow better (besides lid). Go to ls1sounds.com and see which sound you like best then talk to your local shop and have them install it.
