Default SLP LS6 intake pricing.....

They show the LS6 intake with hardware needed for $411!! It would seem to me paying $350 or even $325 for a used intake isn't much of a deal now. The pic shows the intake with the coolant crossover tube and metal plugs. Someone correct me if I am missing something. I know what I'll be buying at Christmas!!

I bought one of these a couple months ago, seemed like a no brainer to me too. Comes with the coolant pipe/plugs, and don't have to worry if the gaskets are good.

Did it come with new gaskets too? If so, this is a stupid no brainer.

Most people will tell you to stick with the LS6 over the BBK or Weiand aluminum ones, unless you are going to go with a big shot of N2O. If you are going to go max effort, step up to a FAST.

and BTW...welcome

I was speaking of the rectangular ones underneath that seal to the heads.

The only thing to be aware of is that this intake has no provisions for EGR. I also put one on my car, no problems. It's a GM intake sold by SLP. Comes with everything needed. I caught mine on sale and actually paid a little less.

You will need an EGR blockoff plate, unless you have headers with no EGR provisions. Tuning will not be necessary, but you will have a SES light. You can either find someone local to delete it, do a mail order from vendor for about $150, or just live with it. If you plan on doing more mods later, I would just wait.

link to the block off plate, some people make their own

Ported TB's go for about $75 on exhange from porters here like Smokin87TA. I'm just happy to pay a little more for brand new (no stories), all gaskets and hardware included.

I hear SLP makes a kit to run the EGR so you can keep the smog crap and still run the intake, just requires cutting the stock EGR tube and running their adapter.

Smokin87TA does them on a core return as well so you don't have down time.

I've got the LS6 intake with the EGR provision by SLP on my '98. Yes, I had to cut the EGR tube that goes into the intake, but instructions with pictures are included. I put mine on in the summer of '04 and haven't had any problems.
