Default First runs with STS kit / IC / Meth.

Made my first runs at the track today with the new car.

I was fully convinced this car was a turd, but after today running it kind of put me at ease.
With long tubes and a 3" exhaust to the turbo, and a shitty tune I ran a 12.7 (not great, with a 2.3 60'...the thing falls on its face off the line) but what really impressed me was the 120.85mph trap. Keep in mind this was only on 5lbs of boost, and with that exhaust I wasn't hitting full boost until around 4500 rpms.
It was consistently at 120mph on my 4-5 passes. Pretty impressed with the potential I'm holding in a couple minor changes.

Anyway just wanted to share for anyone looking at an STS kit, or whatever.
Any more info, just ask me!

I would assume your running an M6? I had that problem too, falling on it's face off the line. But, I got a 2 step, and was cutting 1.8x 60's on a really bad track with bad traction. Definitely have some potential there, just gotta get that thing hooking! Good luck.

Nice trap speed! What track did you run at?

2 step would solve all problems there. My best 60' was like 2.2ish on a 1/8th mile and I ran a 8.6 @ 90mph.

I don't have the tires or rear-end to handle the kind of launch that would put me in the 7s. I tried to launch with some boost on one of the runs and I about turned the car sideways while burning down the tires and ran an awesome 9.8 that run at like 84mph.

Yeah M6, car def. needs some adjustments but first and foremost it needs the stock manifolds back on and stock Y pipe.

PLucas, I ran up at Muncie friday afternoon, it was a little warm out!

Best 60' was a 2.1, and that run was my lowest trap. The only disappointment I have is how big of a turd it is from a dig, the thing struggles to do a burnout.

I'd like to believe the car has low 11's in it.

I have had similar thoughts with mine, and I have a built motor! But, I haven't had the time to tune down low yet, so that is my reasoning. I think there is a something that I am missing to give that low down punch (timing!), but until I get back into tuning it I won't know for sure.

Put your stock exhaust on and wrap the hot side exhaust pipes and you'll be happy. What size turbo? Nice trap speeds!

I'm wrapped now, and I'm hoping my buddy gets me the manifolds and Y before Wednesday so I can make some passes to see if that makes much of a difference.
Slowec - It's a GT67.
NYSS GUY - I'm hoping it will be taken care of with a tune for some power down low. Car has a quick "safe tune" currently.
Thanks for the comments guys!

I think a 2-step would probably cure all yours problems off the line. I set mine at 4400 and am building 4 p.s.i. The best I have ran because I have had some problems with timing being pulled(to hot of IAT) and 9" problems was a 8.0 with a 1.7X 60. My car made 400 rwhp and 456 rwtq on 5 p.s.i.

Who makes a good 2-step? Also, any of you FI guys having problems throwing your belt? My tensioner is pretty bad, but wondered if this was a common problem.

Get a Harlan 2 step if you can find one. I know mine works really well and easy to install and easy to adj. the r.p.m. settings. I don't know anything about the Synergy(sp?) 2 step.

i just recently got to go to a 1/4 mile track. put down a 11.6 @ 126mph at 2300DA.. 9psi.

i have stock manifolds, wrapped exhaust stock(gutted cats). i just installed the Bassanni off road y-pipe. ill run the car next spring and see if that helps pick up some time. im getting 2.1 60ft im looking at a 2-step - synergy motorsports can make them to fit your need.

i think low 11s possibly high 10s if i can get the 60ft down.

go get a solid tensioner , i believe Thunder Racing has em.

synergy makes 2-steps. they bought the harlan 2-step design from harlan.

This is the tensioner that you want.
http://www.katechengines.com/street_...etail.php?id=1

I had constant belt issues until I installed it, not a single thrown belt since.

As for the performance issues, you need to install the stock manifolds, y-pipe and wrap the entire exhaust in header wrap. The difference is night and day. If you want even more performance and faster spool, swap to an automatic. Turbos just work much better with autos.

I have the exact opposite issues as most STS users, my T76 .81 a/r R-Trim turbine turbo is spooling too fast now that it's cooled off here! I'm swapping out to a .96 a/r to hopefully slow the spool down a tad so i'm not blowing the tires off. It's taken almost 3 years of tweaking and trial and error on my setup to get it to this point though. I just cut a 1.58 60' with a 5psi launch and my only susp mod is LCA's.

Thanks for the link zombie! My exhaust now is wrapped, but it's just kind of a waiting game until my buddy gets me some manifolds and stock Y pipe to trade for my 3" and Hooker LT's + a little cash.
Car was acting real weird today. It refused to boost, and at 0 psi was falling on it's face again and acting as if the boost had a rev limiter on it bouncing the car alot. I'm thinking it's a exhaust leak on the pass. side header collector, but I don't think I'll investigate much until after the manifolds go on. Really strange though, because its done this a couple time before and quit. I'm not real knowledgeable...couldn't find a boost leak though. Hmmmm :< Dunno if I'll run it Wednesday if this keeps up.

With a 126mph trap I'd say high 10's is definitely feasible bud, best of luck. I hope to be there with you next year!
