93 Z28 overheating problem.... help
I have been having overheating problems on and off for months now. Now after a ton of thermastats, i had it checked twice and i took it to a radiator shop. They couldnt even figure out the prob. Its not the radiator, thermastat, they did a head check. I dont know. SO today i hit the interstate and overheated. I waited a half hour put water in, and drove 2 more miles overheated again. So i just let it cool and pulled out the ait sensor and its been running fine. Not even getting hot. What could this be

I would personally see about getting a cable and something like Freescan to see what's going on with the sensors etc. Perhaps your coolant temp sensor is bad and the fans are not coming on??? Have you checked the fans? Did the radiator shop actually check the radiator out of the car?

You're probably right cuz mine had the same symptoms but he didn't really have anything for us to chew on so I was just throwing that out there. To the OP, have you checked the fans at all?

+1 to the air dam. also, check around the radiator for leaves or gunk or any **** in the way of air flow.
does it only overheat when you are doing high speeds? or when its sitting idling?

Im having the same problems too. Ive got a 94 and just installed a fan switch. Have yet to see if that solves it.
How many pieces are there to the "air dam" ? I have two pieces of plastic on the left and right side in a triangle shape. Nothing in the middle though.
Hey , also I read in the good ole' Hanes book that a bad radiator cap might cause insufficeint pressure in the cooling system which would lower the boiling point of the fluid. How many votes do I have to spend a few dollars on a new cap???

WOW! Guys!!! THE COMPUTER TURNS ON THE FANS AT A CERTAIN TEMPATURE!!
There is two coolant sensors. One on the side of the head. And one on the front of the
water pump. One is for the gauge and one is for the PCM. Have you even checked to
see if your fans are operating? Turn on your a/c and they should both kick on.
OR... simple check... jump your relay (or fan switch) and force both fans to run... make sure your coolant is topped off as well as the overflow and AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM. Take it for a drive with both fans blasting and all these other requirments met...
Come back and let me know the results.
PS. not having the lil air damn is a very very dumb idea.

If your going to be a smart-***, at least learn how to spell right. Its "temperature", not "tempature".
