P0757 symptom

Default P0757 symptom

Had a converter put in about a month ago and right away the check engine light would come on, trans would be stuck in 3rd, and the converter would not lock. P0757 was present at the time.

Had the code shut off in the PCM with HP tuners, now the check engine light does not come on, but will have the same symptoms, stuck in 3rd, no converter lock up.

I have to stop, get out, disconnect the battery, reconnect, then the car works fine. This sucks though.

I don't know if this make a difference since I did this right after the converter, but I put in a 3.42 gear after I had deleted the p0757 code from the PCM, but right before I am having this current problem.

Any ideas?

Did you have the PCM re calibrated for the new gears ?

Yes, the pcm has been calibrated for the new gears.

I had the p0757 shut off, but not the p0751. I guess that will be my next step. The only problem is, my friend is the one with HP tuners on his laptop so I don't have access to a scanner to check for codes the moment it happens. Will these codes be stored in memory as a cmdtc?

Thanks for the help. I noticed someone in your post said there are like 6 things the PCM sees taht will cause this symptom. Does anyone know everything that will cause this?

I have a Vig 3200 stall and for the longest time I was throwing the P0757 code. As soon as I got HP Tuners, turned it off & the problem went away. THANK GOD, that **** was annoying.

i would rescan your current tune to see if your really shut the code off or not--meaning did your chang in hp tuners actually save the the pcm, my guess is it didn't or you just set it so the check engine lite wont come on when the code p0757 happens..

Thats a good thought. I didn't know there was a difference. I don't know much about that stuff, my friend usually does it, but I had my converter installer turn the code off. If my friend does not know the difference either, could you or anyone else give me the basic Mickey Mouse run down on how to do so?

When you get these codes for shift solenoids and have a stall converter, these can be false codes because of your stall. The way to go about it is to clear the code and then delete the test. This is in almost all cases fixes the problem unless you are having an internal transmission component failure. I hope this helps. Vince

Hey, thanks. I'm pretty sure it's not an internal problem with the trans because I can disconnect the battery and it starts working fine. That and the fact this only started happening right after the converter install.

What all codes need to be deleted? Just the P0757 and P0751? Should I delete the P0502 as well?

when it happens you should just be able to pull over and turn your car off for a min then restart the car. This will reset the code for a little while. To verify the problem go for a drive and see that the car is shifting fine. Find a place where you can brake stall the car(meaning your foot is on the brake and on the gas keeping the car still) and bring the rpms up to 3,000 rpm or more for 20 seconds or so. This should trip the code and only allow you 3rd gear. To reset it turn the car off for a min then restart, it should drive fine for a little while untill it senses the extra slipping..

Normally the codes for the shift solenoids. PO757 and the PO751 are the most common. Refresh my memory what is a PO502?

P0502, vehicle speed sensor circuit low input

On the stalling it up for 20 seconds at 3000 RPM's, is that a good idea? I usually don't stall it up for more than a few seconds at the track before I leave. Will this cause excessive heat in the trans, more so than normal beating the crap out of it?

Stalling the car up is just a test to let you know that it's a tuning issue more or less. I didn't have to stall my car up that long to make my tranny go crazy (limpmode).[/QUOTE]

correct, it might not take 20 sec to do it, could be just 10sec. I said 20 for good measure

noticed this is a very old thread.. but let me bring it back to life.

I experienced the same problem... i have been reading these threads about the p0757 dating back to march of 06.

I was wondering to "stop the computer from testing for it" in hptuners do i find the code in the DTC's and chose "3-no error reported" ? Will that just not report the error or is that how you actually get it to stop testing? I know that is more of a hptuners forum question but figured i'd ask it here since this is where i always search for this type of stuff.
