Default amp relay gurus

okay i bought a pioneer avic-n2 but the guy didnt have the auxillary adapter that had the wire for the amp relay on it, now im using my amps for a front set of alpines and one for my subwoofer. If i wire the relay to one of the front speaker wires that is no longer in use will it work in the same way, i dont want to spend the 50 bucks it would cost to get the auxillary adapter.
