Default is this a decent price for a 2000 trans am?

im thinking of buying a 2000 pewter trans am A4 it has t-tops monsoon sound torq thrust 2 rims lether interior slp lid lt headers cat back exhaust (idk wat brand but it sounds great) it has 49,000 miles and it has a prior flood title however the flood was only a little past the floorboards and everything is in great conditionthey are asking $11,000 but im going to do some negotiating since theyve had it for a while any help would be great im really wanting an ls1, also how much faster is the m6 version and what all would it take for an a4 to keep up with an m6 on top of what this car already has, thanks and sorry for the lengthy question

a flood title can cause it to be hard to sell in the future, id probably try to get him to go lower on the price. i wouldnt say that m6s are to much faster than a4s, putting a stall converter and a shift kit on an a4 and it will run down an m6.

I would inspect the wiring very closely, flood damage can be very iffy

You've got to learn to use some sort of punctuation in your statements.

Anyway, 11000 is too much for a salvage title in my opinion. Mods don't add much value to the car. I'd pay 9500 for it tops.

You just need to be comfortable with what u pay for the car, thats the only thing that matters. Be OK enough with the price that even if you do have to replace something, you'll still be satisfied with your purchase.

Default too much

That is way too much for a salvage/flood car. If you want to spend that much, look here in the forums and you can get a very fast modded car for around $11G's.

alrite thanks guys! ya i was pretty worried about the flood title also but i checked under the dash and in the alternator crevices to look for water marks or dirt and found none. also my mechanic checked it out and said it looked good. also i plan on only paying 9500 tops for it or i just wont buy it. but now i plan on paying even less for it, because when i went to drive it again the other day i start it up and theres a really loud fast knocking sound like a pushrod knocking, or a lifter sticking or somethin. what do you guys think of that?

An a4 will beat an m6 all day at the track but a m6 will take an a4 from a roll and at the road coarse.

honestly i would stay away from that car.
salvage title, rod knock, high asking price
its already been said, there are alot of our cars out there that you can get a good deal on.
epically with the economy the way it is.. guys are selling their toys
as far as the tranny, m6 is a lot more fun but with a good stall, shift kit you will be quicker
my advice is get EXACTLY what you want and keep checking with us to make sure your getting a good deal (also in my personal opinion, dont get a modded car, if you do, somebody already beat the hell out of that car and it feels better when you make it fast yourself

Nope. You can find a cleaner one without a flood title for around that price.

I bought my 98 TA in great shape for 10k back in 04. That seems like a high price for possibly a troublesome car.

Branded title cars usually sell for 1/2 of normal. The startup noise you heard may be the piston slap some of these engines were born with. Sounds like a good reason to pass on it.

I paid $13,600 for my 2002 Z28 A4 with 32000 miles and in great condition. It didn't have very many upgrades. None on the motor but it did have sub fram connecters, suspension, posi traction, trans cooler, shift kit and 3.73 gears. $11,000 is way 2 much for a 2000 with a salvaged title. I would agree with $7,000-8,000 for it.

thanks for the help guys ill just keep looking if i cant get it for less than 8000 which i seriously doubt since its from a dealer. and ws6 rampage was asking about what the flood damage was its a brand on the title since an insurance company has totalled it due to flood damage. this perticular car looked very clean under the dash and everything the dealer said it was in a freshwater flood a little past the floorboard, but then again thats the person selling the car saying that for all i know it could have beeen completely submerged. guess ill keep huntin on 4 an ls1 thanks

i paid $9,000 for my 02 M6 WS6 with salvage title. all they did was replace the fender and door..... i'd say 11 for a flood title is a bit much.
