It can idle forever and not burn up. It's in the tuneup. The problem we have with idling a long time is the fuel gets hot. I don't have any idea what the IAT's are. No intercooler. I know it maxed the IAT sensor out, then melted it off. I don't do EGT's we tune off the plugs. (And O2's)

you melted the sensor off?????
damn, i guess it doesn't matter much since the air is supercooled as soon as it gets into the manifold.
so it only gets hot during the pass?
is the 160* head temp after a 1/4 or 1/8 pass?

We're talking about engine coolant temps, alky motors don't run coolant, as far as getting hot never seen one over heat, but I'd say run lean like any motor would cause that.

heat transferred through the rails to the fuel, its returning alot at idle. It gets hot in the tank, trust me.

we were having fuel pressure issues and found the fuel in the tank to be almost too hot to touch. We had a rear mount cell then too, and the fuel could have been flashing in the suction line to the pump (belt drive waterman pump). Since then we moved the cell to the front of the car and had the pump rebuilt. The methanol ate up the pump housing..
The rest of the fuel system consists of a weldon regulator and whole bunch of fuel injectors.
I've got a feeling that stock suspension/radial racing will turn against methanol and we'll end up on gasoline next year. Oh well, that's racing.
