stock rear axle swap questions???

Default stock rear axle swap questions???

A friend offered to give me the 3.42 rear end out of his WS6. Other than a reflash so my speedometer readings are not screwed up is there anything else I should know about swapping a 98 2.73 10 bolt for a 02 3.42 10 bolt. They are both 3 channel.

One thing I ran into was that I had to cut the brackets that hold the rear brake lines to the rear end in order to let the rear end drop free from the car (while leaving the brake lines in place).

You can see the bracket in this pic:



And you can see the notch I put in them here:

I've swapped rearends a few times in my 99 and never had to cut any thing. Maybe the 98 set up is different.

My car is a 2002. A lot of people told me the same thing, but look at the picture. That bracket is attached to the rear end...how did you take the rear end out without freeing up the brake lines?
