Strange Vibration
Whats up guys? I seem to have a vibration that comes and go's day to day. One day the car drives mint and the next the vibration is pretty bad. It seems to be mostly on accecleration but on the expessway(60-70mph) the vibration seems to pulse while driving! I put the car on the lift and noticed that the yoke at the tailshaft seems to have a ton of play in it. I know there is supposed to be alittle but this seems excessive!! Has anybody ever seen this happen? What kind of repair am I lookin at here?

Not a big job at all. The bushing inside the tailhousing has worn. Is there a leak there as well?
Either way I suggest the following.... have the driveshaft balanced, replace the tailhousing bushing and related seals. Then drive it and see what happens.

The vibration is a harmonic that is setup at a given rotational speed. The driveshaft being out of balance could have caused that condition, no way to know until it is properly checked / balanced by a driveshaft shop.
Take the taihousing off, take it to a local tranny shop and they will knock a new bushing in for a few bucks, have them install a new seal also.

Well you're not out of the woods yet... but I think that's a good start.
Get back to us after those repairs and tell us if that took care of it or not.
Oh, be sure to check the transmission and motor mounts while you are under there. Sagging mounts can change the pinion angle slightly... it's a long shot but worth the time it takes to check 'em.
