I having this ticking coming from the right front.
Is not piston slap.
Sounds low on the car kind of rules lifters.
It sounds like a lifter but low right front.
The ticking never changes in intensity.
Dealer told me to just drive it the 2 k c5 has 8k miles.
The exhaust is stock never been touched , neither has the engine.
Any ideas?
Throw anything out there and I will check it out.
I never noticed it befor I changed the thermostst?
Thanks
John

THANKS FOR THE REPLY.
I'll drive hard and check the pulley also,I have an extended warranty.
I will verify with rpm if it changes intensity.

I don't think codes would tell you anything on this but you might wanna check anyway. I have an LS6 just like ULUZ and it is fairly normal to have a little valvetrain noise on them....LS1 I imagine will have a little if you listen closely enough. What kind of mods do you have?

Yeah, could just be a "normal" sound of something working underneath, but it just sounds odd to them. If its got a warranty, i dont see the harm in getting it checked out. Even if its just a normal application, doesnt hurt to KNOW exactly what it is.

Hey Blktie8, I agree with FLYNLO that all/most LS1/6's have that ticking noise. My current bird has the same noise, I mentioned the problem with a 2001 bird I used to have to the dealer. They told me not to worry about it. Don't worry too much, go out and enjoy your car. And if worst comes to worst, you have a warranty on it!

my 99 started making a ticking sound while the engine was warming up, and would go away after I revved it up a few times leading me to believe I had a weak lifter or something of that nature. turned out to be the belt making the noise at the tensioner. (possibly misaligned?) anyway, I shot it with some silicone and the noise went away. the car has 28k and it's time for some new belts anyway. I'll check the alignment when I do the belts.

Well The dealer told me it was all normal.
I just would like to check out the tensioner.
I have had two of you guys say the same thing check the tensioner?
Its not loud but don't we hear everything.
My mods are right now limited to vortex, b&b PRT'S 3.42 GEAR TRANS-GO WITH SY3500.
Stainless works headers next week.
Maybe a Magnason supercharger some day.
Its just a fun car to add go fast things.
Thanks
John

since I have had my corvette for about 4 months, I have noticed all kinds of little noises here and there, So I took to be serviced right after I bought it and everything was fine. No really making any noises now, but other vette owners tell me its normal.
Like the noise 6spd's make when you turn the car off.

That's a normal sound. I can't remember for sure but I think it is a oil system sound. That topic has been covered a few times on another forum. Mine does it also and I thought it was lifter noise but found out it is normal and not to worry.
