Wrecked ls1 formula, thinking of getting a gto next
This past weekend my car, 98 firebird formula was totaled when I hit a deer going down the road
I've been considering a new car and of course I want to stick to an LSx engine. Considering replacing my bird with a goat.

That's a link to what I'm currently looking at. I want some feedback on everyone's overall opinion of the gto and what I can expect differently after driving an f-body for the past 4 years.

why dont you do some research and not come ask us? I think your retarded if u wanna know the truth. why dont you pick up a really clean looking f-body for about 8-9 and put 10-12k into the car. IMO, that beats the hell out of a stock LS2 in a heavy GTO body.

21,500 seems like a decent price for the car, about what kbb says it should be.
I like fbodys but really want something with low miles that is reliable and a little more comfortable.
I'll get some pics up of my car, its really really wrecked lol

i realy like the "goat" but i just dont think it is a pretty car, here in europe whe have the holden monaro and vhouxal monaro and they are just much nice cars to look at,
i've drived both ls1 and ls2 gto, and realy liked them, the ls1 car felt kinda slow though,
i was goin to buy one.. until the new camaro came along.. i will wait for that rather than getting a gto

Go with the GTO . O.K. it's heavy , so do the LS2 and start off with 50 more HP and better brakes , not to mention the scoops and separated exhaust . All the same mods work on a GTO except the rear , but there are plenty of upgrades , and people are running 10's on stock rear . Superior interior ! say that 5 times fast ! If you want a project at lower cost , Ebay constantly has stolen/recovered or lightly munched cars for riteous prices . Look on LS1GTO and see how rabid most of us are ...there is also a cars for sale section .One caution in fairness--IRS works much better with an auto for drag racing .

Honestly, I would say it depends on your personal preference. They are really two different cars. GTO drives and feels a little heavier, you give up the beloved t-tops, and IMO f-bods look better! I'd say stick with the f-body and use any extra $$$ for whatever else! GTO is a hell of alot more luxurious though...
