Default Purchased LS7 clutch...

I'm debating whether I'm retarded or not... feel free to help me decide.

I purchased this on e-bay:

LS7 Clutch kit

I based my decision on the fact that a brand new Z06 probably wasn't beat on in the first 2500 miles.

Will an LS7 flywheel work on my car(i believe they are lighter than the LS2 correct?) if it doesn't work I have a source to get LS2 flywheels cheap.

Questions:
1. Am I retarded
2. Do I need a shim for a 99 Trans am?
3. How do you tell what is a better designed slave cylinder?(basically what is not a 98-99 model)

Thanks ahead of time,
Gary

If what you bought is right when you recieve it, it should work.

I'm running the LS7 cluthc kit with the LS2 flywheel. Some people bitch about the extra weight but it isn't that bad. The only slaves sold now are the new model if you buy it brand new. And no extra work should be involved on the install. It should install exactly like a stock replacement if you got the right parts.

The trick is the flywheel has to be a Corvette style LS2/ls7 flywheel. The corvette ls2/ls7 flywheel is the same but the GTO ls2 flywheel is different for the corvette.

GTO flywheel

You need the LS2 vette flywheel. Mine has been in over a year without problems & this is the flywheel EVERY vendor I talked to told me was needed.

This is exactly what I have found and heard. As you can see in the pics I posted the gto vs vette flywheels are not the same and have dramitic differances.

You need a C6 (vette) flywheel. Can be either LS7 or LS2(vette only). LS1, LS6, or GTO LS2 will not work!
